Correct. Pay them to compete in the events that actually matter for the sport’s championship where they are representing their country, not random cards that will have no impact outside of that event.

Antonio Mills had an incredible summer, cool to see him get a stop sign. Hoping to see him at S32 and I bet we do because he's already a southern kid
Mills made finals at S32 last year knocking off Joey Bachmann.
lost in the finals to Christian Castillo who is now at ISU.

Pay them. The top international talent doesn’t enter rankings tournaments because all they care about is the Olympics. Give them a reason to care about the other events.

Not sure what the weight class comment even means.
there are no weight classes in tennis. there's 10 ish headliners in tennis. you get them, and you got yourself an event.
in wrestling you get 10 headliners against bums you still aint got nothing.

A Kentucky kid - Luke Ricketts - came outta nowhere really to make quarters at 190. has Mastny next.
in that same bracket, it's nice to see Penovich doing so well after his long injury layoff.

Honestly, Carini's ranking is a bit too high and he looked pretty lackluster in all his matches. But he's got a few more years. Joseph Antonio out of SJB is a better long term prospect IMO- great pickup for Army.
Carini's high ranking comes with SR's (Antonio) being removed.
and what's left is not very deep. that being said, Carini still has two years of HS left. everyone is recruiting him.

there's also a kid in quarters that didn't register with me until this spring - Sullivan Ramos (WI) 165

man, i love you guys. could talk Fargo all day.
Eggum's kid is at 150.
there's a kid that was kinda not on my radar - Nate Gugelman (ID). he didn't place but he beat some good guys (Verrette and Paridon)
-
i like Jawn Cena. but i completely disagree with this take. first of all, there are weight classes.
second of all, have you ever tried to get multiple ranked wrestlers in the same city at the same time?
-
i'll be there. hopefully i can remember to bring some intermat shirts for you guys.

Dan Dennis never won anything. Not kids club or junior high or state, or as we all know in heartbreaking fashion... not NCAAs. But he won the 2016 Olympic spot!
very good nomination.
how about Jamil Kelly being a zero time college AA but turning into an Olympic Silver

i don't like most of the suggestions being offered. I mean, VRob had major accomplishments in HS and was obviously a talent.
i gotta jump into a meeting but i'll get back on this topic. in short, i'd say state titles don't mean much.
but for now Drew Foster and Stephen Buchanan come to mind.

Oh look it's somebody who has an opinion that doesn't matter. How nice.
this kinda crap adds nothing to discussion and you do it too often.
keep it up and you can enjoy a vacation.
consider this a warning.

citing something from a decade ago doesn't help your narrative that it's an epidemic.
it's all abhorrent, of course.
i just don't see any evidence that it's anything close to more prevalent in wrestling than in other sports.

New Edge Rules
in International Wrestling
Posted
I'm at Cadet Worlds and J'den Cox went to the rules meeting where they emphasized new edge interpretations.
I've been to a bunch of these and they often emphasize something at Cadets as a test case. Whether or not that gets widely adopted is another matter. (I remember one time at JR Worlds (Brazil) i went to rules meeting and they said something was going to be called a certain way and it never was). so take it for what it's worth.
anyway - was wondering what you guys thought about this
