It is not common to be a Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) gunner and a medic simultaneously as a primary role. While military personnel may receive cross-training, these are two distinct Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) with fundamentally different training and missions.
Why these roles are not commonly combined
Fundamentally different skill sets and training.MLRS gunners (Army MOS xxx): Are part of a field artillery crew that operates a large, long-range rocket system. Their job involves maintaining and operating complex launch vehicles, fire control systems, and communication equipment.Combat medics (Army MOS yxx): Focus on providing emergency medical care to sick or wounded soldiers on the battlefield. They are trained in patient care, trauma management, and evacuation.
