  3. What weight is Ono competing at in 2028?
  4. You just said the link you posted in the OP contains false information What's the point of discussing false information? Shouldn't you be contacting USA Wrestling to issue an updated list? How many other names on the list you posted aren't actually competing?
  5. So you knowingly started a thread and posted a link to false information Why did you do that
  6. 63 kg Otto Black (United States) ------- 60 kg Max Black (United States)
  7. Mods please rename thread to "My sons are about to win an insignificant tournament after getting their asses kicked at Worlds. Please pay attention to me."
  8. If Colby Covington wouldn't have got the MMA press to start covering RAF events in late 2025/early 2026, RAF would probably have been dead by now
  9. To be fair - it was only their second show, and it was kind of cursed to begin with. RAF booked Penn State thinking it would be an instant sellout - place was empty. Kyle Snyder was originally supposed to headline, but he got hurt. Dake's match then got moved to the main event. NBC put out a nice article about Dake yesterday, so I'm assuming they're going to make him one of their primary Team USA storylines for the 2028 Olympics. In a perfect world, RAF and UWW would support each other's products and help each other with cross-promotion. But since they're competing products, it'll never happen outside of passing mentions of World/Olympic accomplishments from Sparks on commentary.
  10. Wrestlers by themselves don't sell, unfortunately. RAF 02 was headlined by Kyle Dake, and it was the worst-attended and lowest-watched show they did. RAF is good at selling wrestling to a mainstream audience. Is everyone happy with the final product? No - but they've made it work.
  11. Freestyle wrestling coach Gatsalov stated that he will no longer allow athletes to take part in RAF Khadzhimurat Gatsalov, head coach of the Russian national freestyle wrestling team, has stated that he will no longer permit athletes to participate in the Real American Freestyle (RAF) wrestling league. The World Championships in the capital of Kazakhstan concluded on Sunday. The Russian team secured 14 medals: four gold, three silver, and seven bronze. Previously, Ismail Khaniev, Ibragim Kadiev, and Abdulrashid Sadulaev had taken part in RAF events. — Have you been able to analyze the results of Sadulaev and Uguev? — Of course, we have analyzed them. A more in-depth analysis regarding these specific athletes is still to come. We will certainly meet with the coaching staff to draw conclusions and work on correcting our mistakes. I believe that, in some respects, Rashid did not complete the full preparation process. He also needs more competitive experience; he hasn’t competed much, and he missed the Russian Championships due to an injury. We have taken note of this, and next year—starting right from the beginning of the year at the Yarygin Tournament—everyone will compete. They will all take part in the full slate of ranking tournaments. — Is the RAF the kind of competitive experience the athletes need? — No. The three athletes—Khaniev, Kadiev, and Sadulaev—who competed in the RAF did not undergo a full training regimen. We were in the mountains, focusing on building volume and physical conditioning, while they were preparing for the RAF. The federation’s position—and my own personal stance—is that those who qualified at the Russian Championships will not compete anywhere other than in the ranking tournaments designated by the coaching staff. — So, you will no longer allow participation in the RAF? — I will not. Alternatively, we might consider sending the second or third-ranked athletes instead. "A firm stance," reports a Match TV correspondent, relaying Gatsalov’s words.
  12. From the outside, it looks like a bunch of assholes saying "have a blessed day" and thinking that excuses them from any sort of culpability for their actions
  13. It's sports. It's a game. @BruceyB and I are in rare agreement on something - nationalism is dumb. It doesn't help that many Team USA fans are openly racist. But if Ono switched his allegiance from Japan to Team USA tomorrow, the same morons would welcome him with open arms.
  14. Wait until Team USA stans find out that Amit Elor learned to wrestle in Israel and only chose to rep America because it gave her a better chance at succeeding It's almost like...people with multiple citizenships are free to choose what country they represent
  15. I'm of the opinion that most people with strong takes on this are just doing it for clicks, so I'll just say that there's plenty of "fuck yous" to go around in this situation. -Fuck you to whoever coached Morgan Turner to believe that eye pokes were an acceptable tactic -Fuck you to Morgan Turner for poking a girl in the eyes and not issuing an apology or visiting her in the hospital -Fuck you to Titan Mercury Wrestling Club for saying they stand by Morgan Turner when they could have admonished her behavior or cut ties with her -Fuck you to people who are being racist towards Morgan -Fuck you to people who are calling out the racism but refusing to say that eye poking is bad The truth is that both eye poking and racism are bad, but you only get clicks on social media if you choose one side.
  16. Just a few short months ago, Flo was crapping on Adaugo Nwachukwu as that strange Nigerian who upset America's sweetheart Macey Kilty in Final X But since she won a medal? ADAUGO IS NOW A MAGICAL AMERICAN WHO DESERVES ENDLESS PRAISE (cut to an AI video of Christian Pyles time traveling back to the birth of Adaugo Nwachukwu and saying that he always believed in her)
  17. This is the forum that refers to non-American wrestlers as "Russia" or "Japan" out of spite instead of acknowledging them as human beings
  18. You're probably better off asking this question on a forum that isn't 97% Team USA homers
  19. Willie and Basch were arguing about this on a recent show, so I thought I'd clear things up. Lucia Yamileth Yepez Guzman (born 2001, current RAF Women's Strawweight Champion) is an Ecuadorian wrestler who took 53kg silver at the 2024 Olympics after losing to Akari Fujinami in the finals: https://uww.org/athletes/yepez-guzman-lucia-yamileth Yusneylis Guzman Lopez (born 1996) is a Cuban wrestler who took 50kg silver at the 2024 Olympics after losing to Sarah Hildebrandt in the finals: https://uww.org/athletes/guzman-lopez-yusneylis Guzman vs. Guzman never happened, and the closest it ever came to happening was when both competed at 50kg in the 2021 Olympics (Lucia Yamileth Yepez Guzman went 1-2 and placed 8th, Yusneylis Guzman Lopez went 0-2 and placed 12th)

  21. That's a figure that's often cited, but times are changing. Current UFC title holder sports backgrounds: Wrestling - 2 (18%) BJJ - 2 (18%) Boxing - 2 (18%) Muay Thai - 1 (9%) Sambo - 1 (9%) Judo - 1 (9%) Taekwondo - 1 (9%) MMA exclusive - 1 (9%)

  24. He's taking the reverse Bella Mir pathway - succeed in wrestling first, get embarrassed in MMA later Here's his quote from 2023: “My goal is to obviously go to college and get my degree,” Bassett said. “I also have the goal to win four NCAA titles. I think 2028 would be my best year, maybe 2032 Olympic cycle and transition into fighting.” The article says his aunt/uncle (doesn't specify) is a BJJ trainer
