    I'd consult with both Askrens and John Mesenbrink on who to hire as coach. Instead of poaching youth for college within the same state - let the AWA program alone since its running successfully. But make sure you have their view before going forward. The goal is alignment

    On the plus side, as a SUNY school, instate tuition is heavily discounted and New York state has plenty of youth wrestling

    Oh yeah I misses the most obvious rule that went against him which tilted the outcome of neutral positions as more heavily weighted than it was previously

    They also changed the rules against his previous style. Namely they increased stall calls on guys running parallel rides but not trying to turn. And also they have kept a closer eye on locks that go across the neck.

    I've watched every televised Buffalo dual over the last two years. He seems to be a very passionate coach with good results from limited resources. I view them as a team in a similar situation to Binghamton, but the Bearcats have been more impressive than the Bulls by a reasonable margin. Buffalo should aim to outperform teams like Binghamton as an appropriate benchmark.

    And in the short term, no one could blame any young wrestler from accepting a 6 digit endorsement deal for a team that loses money in a sport that very few care about. It does feel like we need some strong leadership in the sport at the moment

    Yeah I was talking about the whole sport. If Penn State and a few others figure out a way, that won't be enough. The others will die and Penn State will have no one else to compete against. I'm talking long term, but it feels inevitable without a change in strategy

    I heard that from Askren but folks here convinced me with good reason that even if possible, it would be difficult and perhaps unlikely

    As much as I would like to blame the NCAA - at some point its up to the different sports to think of a way to be financially independent or else die on the vine

    Your list makes me think of a good idea: who are the best transfers at each weight who went from a bigger program to a smaller one. From your list alone you have Noto from NC State to Lock Haven and Quinn Kinner from Ohio State to Rider. Going back in time of course you have Kolat and Marstellar. Evan Wick from Wisconsin to Cal Poly. Who else am I missing
