  1. bold prediction in the sense that Mendez has one already and two more years of eligibility. I think he wins at least one more and Davino takes at least one himself. But maybe thats me being bold
  2. My expectation from the start of the season is that he would be a minimal participant - probably due to the weight cut. To miss the weight at WT trials means it must be a pretty big pull. They might be scheduling him to wrestle the required number of matches just in time - that is if he can make the weight in an effective way. @ionel, any word?
  3. That's fair enough. I was always expected to wrestle sick as a kid - even if I would lose because of the lack of energy, because the coach knew I would resist being pinned even when sick better than the backup. My first year when I was seven, we won the league championship, I was so sick with the flu, I puked throughout the night and morning of the championships. 102 degree fever - coach bumped me up to 48 lbs and said if I don't get pinned, he thinks we will win the dual (I didn't and we did). So in that respect, it seems silly that a young adult would prefer to protect his record when little kids are expected to step up. But I get that it's far more intense to go through a college match with the flu than it is a youth match.
  4. McCrone vs Kilkeary Sammy Sasso vs Paddy Gallagher e'Than Birden vs Bryce Hepner Shumate vs Geog Dylan Gilcher vs Cam Catrabone Fisher vs Stewart Cael Hughes vs Reece Wittcraft Tyler Kasak vs Alex Facundo Lucas Stoddard vs Brady Colbert (the latter of which has quietly won 20 matches as a true freshman backup) Julian Farber vs Cory Land Patrick Kennedy vs Gabe Arnold
  5. Nothing against Steveson but I'd love to see it
  6. any further updates would be appreciated for those that cut the basic cable cord! thanks!
  7. In the case of Wolak - he came to Virginia Tech along with his former coach at Columbia - Zach Tanelli who is now on the staff at Virginia Tech. So not sure what's up with him this year.
  8. As long as I can see the mat and the score, they can say whatever they like
  9. Very cool. I remember one from two season ago:
  10. I could have worded it more clearly so we can split the misunderstanding but I think we do agree
  11. When I said room, I didn't mean wrestlers. I mean the actual physical room. Sorry for confusion
  12. Stanich/Crookham and Beard/Taylor bookending each of Lehigh's duals last year was awesome. even though it doesn't answer the question. its more impressive because not from the Big Ten
  13. they do for youth anyway. another father at our club as well as this particular coach both recommended the place for our kids if we wanted to step up and take it a bit more seriously. we have not gone down that route as of yet.
  14. One of my kids' coaches used to train with Zeth Romney at titan mercurcy, so it gives us a random reason to root for him
  15. He looks like a larger 125. I bet he walks around off season low to mid 140s. I'd guess he has a tough cut.
  16. @nhs67 has referenced the quality of their room being worse than many high school rooms. If that's true, it would lead me to believe the NIL situation may not be very robust for wrestling in East Lansing
  17. These teams are not even in the same universe, sadly. It wasn't so long ago that we could at least look forward to a Chase Saldate, Caleb Fish, or a Cameron Caffey. But at this point, there wasn't a real purpose for these teams to have a dual.
  18. congrats @MPhillips and @Ohio Elite
  19. No surprise since they were wrestling against a clearly inferior opponent. However I think they bumped up just one to many guys after looking at the score
  20. I'm not sure if he is, but since he has had some great results, but some less savory, and he still has another match to wrestle for his team if he wants, I would think they may go with Hepner (unless he's injured and I didn't know it)
  21. No slip rule in folkstyle huh? poor Rogotzke
  22. anyone know what happened to Geog? Did he just lose his spot to Shumate? Injured?
  23. I know a few people who knowingly pronounce their name incorrectly for the ease of those around them - which is sort of interesting. Anyway 184 in a clash of styles - Rogotzke always going for a big move and Ruth seems to be incentivized based on sudden victory wins only.
  24. I've heard others pronounce it with silent K. ChatGPT begs to differ. I personally have no clue.
  25. e'Than Birden over 10 ranked Braeden Scoles by decision
