The thought of having an opportunity to win 5 NCAA titles does not sit right with me. Other student athletes lost a year and only had 3 attempts at winning a national title while someone else received an extra year because of it. Its the NCAA who caused this problem and not the athletes but still does not sit right with me. As a whole NCAA wrestling is a fantastic product with many generational talents as high school wrestling seemingly continues to produce higher level wrestlers each year. Brooks and Starocci must be added to the all timers list but many like Ruth, Quentin Wright, etc. get overshadowed because of their lack of production post collegiate carrier which is unfair.

I could be wrong, but I believe Carter has said before that he's not interested in going for five. That could change, but I honestly don't see what he gains in terms of GOAT talk going for the extra title. It's not like Cael or Dake wouldn't have won 5 if given the fifth year to compete.

The irony keeps piling up. Not only did I use ironic correctly, but you incorrectly posted an article about the incorrect use of irony. Are you starting to see the irony? I doubt it.

The link works just fine for me, so no idea what you're talking about. You're also still not using the word correctly, but whatever, dude lol. The fact is the Big Ten schedule costs a lot of its wrestlers' seeds. This isn't anything new and for you to dry and deny it is weird.

Ironic that you say you can't look at one situation and then look at one situation.

I am not looking at one situation. I am looking at the totality of all situations. And when you do that you see that Big 10 wrestlers get seeded higher in spite of their loses.

I think you need to look up the definition of irony because you aren't using it correctly: Is Ironic The Most Abused Word In English?

Either way, I literally took the first weight. Do you think Orine gets the 5 seed at 133 wrestling a BT schedule? How about Henson at 149? Think he's only losing 3 times wrestling Sasso, Gomez, Yahya, Murin, Van Ness, etc? I don't

Think about that for a second. The post I was responding to said that the Big 10 gets screwed by wrestling each other, but Brooks' lose was a non-conference match.

You can't look at one situation and apply that to every bracket.

Hell, let's just take a look at the first weight. Do you really think guys like Stevo and Caleb Smith would be the 5 and 6 seeds had they wrestled a big ten schedule with Spencer, Cronin, Ramos, McKee, etc? I certainly don't.

You can find examples of these types of seeds in nearly every bracket, hence the "Big Ten beats each other up and affects their seedings" argument.

Iowa's seeds were all relatively as expected and fair. This tournament seems to get tougher and have more parity every year. That might be a result of the free years given to the COVID group. There are 3-4 top guys at most weights that are seniors this year that would have typically left the field after last season. Remove the group of hammers below from the field and it probably looks much more in line with past NCAA tournaments.

125 - Spencer, Cronin, Courney, Cardinale

    133 - RBY, McGee, Phillipi

    141 - Hart

149 - Yahya, Millner, Murin, Zapf

    157 - AOC, Humphries, Gfeller

    165 - Monday

    174 - Labriola, Smith, O'Reilly, Romero

184 - Coleman, Romero, Finesilver, Bolen

197 - Nino, Dean, Laird, Warner

HWT - Parris, Schuyler, Hilger, Orndorff

Why are people taking this as only Iowa getting screwed by the BT schedule? It's the entire conference, and the FRL crew talking about this in depth this week.

It's real and I can't help but LOL at the morons suggesting Big Ten teams make their non-conference schedule even harder. That's some logic right there!

Maybe Tommie should fire up the rocketship and fly out west to wrestle those goons.  🤔

So you want Iowa to wrestle a weaker schedule? If you can't agree that Big Ten teams get screwed by wrestling and beating up on one another during the season, you're lying to yourself.

Look forward to it. I expect this will reinforce all sides' views.

The coaches will come across as intense and engaged and deeply committed to their athletes.  The athletes will come across as dedicated, earnest, extraordinarily hard working fine young men grateful to be part of this great program.

But this great senior class falls short of its potential, due to inordinately high instances of injuries and an inability to find a higher gear in the biggest matches.

I expect that iowa fans will see noble efforts thwarted by bad luck (covid costing them the 2020 title and injuries out of anyone's control blowing up 2022).

Non Iowa fans will see uncreative overtraining leading to injury and an inability to adapt and score needed takedowns against top competition.

    This can't be disputed.

Only matched by Sebastian Rivera at the college level when Spencer was battling mono.

    FIFY

Seabass definitely didn't look like he matched Spencer's strength the year before when he lost 7-3 and then 12-0.

Moreover, won an Olympic gold in college another 4 years later never lost folk or free during that time.  Smith won a World gold in college but did lose a couple matches each style.  Gable was only 2x but perhaps still trumps RBY as might a couple others.  I'd said RBY is fighting for 3rd at best.

Lol, perhaps. This thread is hilarious.

I would describe that as light applause, most likely from the PSU fans in attendance.  Definitely not a standing ovation from the Iowa fan who you can see are definitely still seated and not clapping.

Wrong. I was there and there were plenty of Iowa fans who stood up and clapped, including myself. Same thing happened for Ed the following match. The PSU section was maybe 30 people.

82bordeaux said it was the same response as PSU gave Spencer, so to quote him, his statement is factually incorrect

Look at the YouTube video of the end of the match between David Taylor and Nick Moore. The fan's reaction in Iowa City is almost identical to the reaction of the PSU crowd. Your statement is factually incorrect.

Please point out in this video where Iowa fans booed DT. I am hearing claps after he majors Moore in Carver.
