Did Ayala actually get worse this year?
MD152 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
do you know what happened to him exactly? shoulder? I know he's out for this year, is he coming back or is it like Nagao over at PSU? -
Blaze~ 25% Forrest~20% Davino~20% Byrd~ 10% Seidel~10% Frost~ 5% Ayala~ 3% Larkin~ 3% Van Dee, Fugitt, Serrano, Knox ~ 1% My bad guys...good intention, horrible approach, give me a pass on my earlier post!
-
we all get by with a little help from our friends (thanks Bar Series), I did screw that up, good intentions bad wording, sorry for the low IQ post, about to change it up
-
exactly........! i definitely could have worded it better for sure, my apologise
-
85% of those guys have the best "odds' of winning it all, maybe i should have said odds, the odds are in their favor.... those guys have an 85% chance of things going their way for them to win....... so many things have got to go your way to win it all those guys in their percentage group have the best chances of things going your way!
-
your probably right im no math guy, just having a little fun with a pinch of flavor...
-
holy toledo i didnt realize, Id say you did your homework, Hooah
-
LOL...nice come back
-
My (2 cents worth) "percentages chances" of winning it all, seeding will be huge! of course i add a sense of humor on what it would take for those in their "percentage bracket" to win it all..... 85% or greater: (tip of the spear) Bryd, Blaze, Davino, Forrest 80 - 85%: (blink and ill catch you to win it all) Seidel 30-40%: (talk to my girlfriend behind my back and im winning it all) Frost, Larkin, Ayala 10%: (write my sisters name on the wall in the mens bathroom and ill win it all) Van Dee, Fugitt Dark Horse: 10% or less (say sumting about my momma and im winning it all) Knox, Serrano

well said....... Ayala is a top tier wrestler, unfortunately 133 is absolutely stacked and lets not forget Crookham on any given day that cat can beat anyone @ 133...... whoever you all are pulling for good luck, D1 wrestling has me at hello -

exactly correct! -
well said "Doublehalf" {only thing i could add would be who's injuries are more sever than others}
-
133 is crazy and whoever gets the AA's 1 thru 8 exactly right should be "tabbed" a wrestling genius!!! just a quick thought how likely is it that one side of the bracket could be crazy loaded [Davino, Forrest, Seidel, Blaze, Ayala] while the otherside is still talented but not as deep [Byrd, Frost, Larkin, Fugitt, Van Dee] .....us wrestlers know too well about the draw of the brackets and how one side could be a what the %$#@ are they thinking!
-
Fully agree!
-
Hooah!!!! (Heard, understood & acknowledge)
-
"happyvalet" just my 2 cents not worth much! I do agree with your points of thought, Caliendo hopefully wrestles Lockett in a few so lets see how things go, got absolutely no issue if Lockett wins again 50/50, it just might be the other way around 2 takedowns to zero??? as for Blaze I just like how he found a way late to win 5-4 vs Kasak after being down 3-0 later in the match, that Offense came at a time (late in a match vs Kasak to goto Semi Finals of Nationals ) than rode him out to erase riding time....what I see in Blaze you dont, im cool with that......Im more of a grinder wrestler, Im willing to destroy or get destroyed, some wrestler preserve a little so as to not get caught in funky positions and get seriously injured, think of Nolf! Maybe Blaze and his approach is to be as healthy as possible at the end of the year? all the same your thoughts and points are legit, respect!
-
Well done, I can see you have done your homework!!!
-
Report card: Lockett= Defense 94% (A) Offense 76% (C+) Caliendo= Defense 94% (A) Offense 88% (B+) Blaze= Defense 92% (A) Offense 92% (A) MM= Defense ? (TBD cuz i havent seen much of it, lol) Offense 100% (A+) I think Caliendo has a better game plan for Lockett the 2nd time around in just a few days from now and wins, I can also see Blaze beating Caliendo in their 1st match but Caliendo winning the second match IF they wrestle twice.....I can see Blaze winning vs Lockett many times........

now your thinking brother "Greenwave"........ "Scottishsteel" i did not know that about Bloomsburg, thanks for the info mix in Jody and Juergens with Kem as head coach and Iowa is, IOWA again, please dont get me wrong Brands is and will always be a legend, i think wrestlers of today are simply taking a different direction in coaching philosphy, Iowa has always had that "Bulldog" or "Pitbull" attitude, I personally like it, but now kids like it with a side helping of a "greyhound" (blazing fast pace) with a final serving of "Chihuahua" (endless motor that wants to attack even if the cards are aginst him, lol).... the schools/coaching staff that are blending all that "dog-in-him-fight" into 1 room is the schools thats winning the new recruits + transfers.......
-
Kemerer?? (he would drawl alot of interest from the Franklin Regional area not to mention PA), I have always respected Michael Kemerer as i bet alot of us do, total class act, maybe he brings in Jody Strittmatter (we all know his influence on young guns) this is probably far fetched but......
-
It's the Penn State philosophy/coaching that turns wrestlers into scoring machines......... perfectly stated, I wish more would adopt this approach (plus it does not hurt the amount of talent thats suroounds a program helps, there are some schools that have back ups that would/could be nationally ranked inside top 8.

Hate to sound like a cry baby BUT, Im old school (56 yrs old), my best days are behind me, with that being said i dont understand how some of the below thoughts are not called STALLING???? (in 1 paticular match over the weekend i counted a nationally ranked wrestler taking 74 steps backwards and 6 forward, he dropped to a knee or both knees with atleast 1 hand on the mat for a total of nearly 3 minutes and 15 seconds with zero intentions of attacking, take a look below and feel free to help me understand why we are seeing so much of the below tactics and should they be considered a form of stalling just as holding onto the leg/ankle for a 6 count is...... *going to one knee plus 1 hand and going backwards the entire match ... (note: 1 or 2 fake attempts at a shot/takedown is just that) *going to 2 knees or switching knees plus 1 hand and going backwards the entire match ....... *CONSTANTLY hands to the forehead or head and face *backing up constantly THAN a quick circle in to avoid a stall call there are others but i am certain those on this forum all understand my thoughts, again I am an older school veteran wrestler, i like the unlimited "gas tanks", "popeye forearms" and "peg-board" workouts........ everyone knows I love all wrestling anyone who wrestles (spent time in the war-room" has my support, no real favorites so i really dont favor this school or that school over another, my 2 favorite wrasslers are Snyder and Nolf with Kolat and Fried honorable mention, lol...... no need to name names on my end but why so many wrestlers dropping to the knee or the 3 point football stance or in many cases dropping to 2 knees, personally i think many times its a case where wrestlers who do this are tring to ride there match into OT and/or SV & TB........ all the same what say you all, would that/this be a form of STALLING and not wrestling, has wrestling change so much since my days that its now, "im not gonna try to win it in regulation"??
-
very well said.....lets hope the head injuries stay clear of all athletes in all sports! with this being said and no issues with concussions, he is my pick to win it all @ 157!!!
-
....message to current HS wrestlers thinking of wrestling 133-141 "133-141 is on LOCK DOWN for roughly 5-6 years" (of course im factoring on a RS or something else here), does King Kong or Godzilla even AA in 133 or 141
-
I think "Pinnacle" (as I) was referring to the 2020 super 32 at which point they both would have been turning either 13 or 14........
