I hear a tremendous amount of love and respect for Terry and his coaching from most guys on that team. Really, almost everyone he has worked with, including Cejudo. Terry comes across as a maniac, but I think he is pretty good in his role as an assistant, especially with the smaller guys.

I am not sure if I understand your question, but the MFF counting as a loss is to prevent athletes from defaulting out of a tourney after a loss. We all know that in many such cases, they are healthy but don't feel like wrestling back for some reason. This has been deemed "bad for the sport.' Not to mention: some of these situations are flat out "ducks."

Also Iran was no wrestling power in 1984. Lets not make a big deal about them deciding not to come in 1984. They had bigger issues to worry about. They were not a top 10 team in 83 or 85, and had just one medal in each of those years. Cuba was almost as bad. Bulgaria was excellent, however.

I think that match was at least slightly out of character for Gable. Not saying he was always an angel, but he is on record saying that was the most upset he ever was during and after a match. He felt overwhelmed and exhausted after. I believe that he has said when he went into the tunnel that he was so overwhelmed that he was physically ill and thought he might actually be having a heart attack.

Talking about the '84 Greco guys: Both did pretty well. Blatnick defeated World Champ and 8x World/Olympic medalist Johansson of Sweden (who was actually caught doping in 84, losing the medal.) Fraser defeated Frank Andersson, a three time world champ, who may have been a year or two past his prime. Fraser also had to beat Mike Houck, who won World gold in 85, in the US trials. Wrestling was significantly diminished by the lack of Eastern Bloc nations, but the Nordic nations were very strong at the time. Both medalists beat studs.

I was thinking less about a Russian general and more about an arms designer, but not surprised to see a Soviet-type name on an Israeli roster.
