That is a solid lineup. I would list your 133 as a 125, your 149 as a 141, and your 197 as a 184 and depending on the guy the other squad throws out there I might fluctuate.

Which isn't D1. We expect greater things from Doc.

Rojas was 165 at the end of the season for Michigan. I am pulling in Facundo and bumping either him or Amine.
-
Fixed 285 for you. He did wrastle a bit. Also, the first part doesn't coincide with OP's OP... see below, Doc.

Chittum wouldn't make 149. He has already made that publicly known. Quit being a douche.

This is a rather piss-poor take. When entering the US Open he knew that winning meant he could not go to 92 KG or make a go for that spot if he earned a chance at Final X. It specifically state(s/d) it in the registration. Those who accepted Final X bids before the US Open or after winning it were not allowed to enter WTT at an attempt to earn another spot. Even disregarding all of this, he knew DT was the guy waiting for him. Being able to get a feel for him in an actual competition setting might be better for him than going 92 KG. In short... he didn't earn the shot at Zahid for the 92 KG spot. He has never wrestled 92 KG and there is an entire ladder of people ahead of him at 92 KG. Zahid did earn the shot at 92 KG for Final X by actually wrestling 92 KG at the WTT. It might not seem fair. It is fair per the rules, which everyone knew or knows. If they don't it isn't on USA Wrestling to explain in layman's terms. The information and criteria have been out for a while.

If we say his name a few more times he might show up. I doubt it, though. His boy dwindled in to obscurity, unfortunately. -
Carroll may be registered, but he is actually sitting out to the finals, isn't he? Also, Feldman too. Let's see him enter as well.

285 Tiers Discussion, 2023-2024 InterMat Edition
nhs67 replied to nhs67's topic in College Wrestling
I think he slots in at the same spot as Doucet for now. I am open to moving him up once he faces actual collegr competition Tiers 1-5 and does something. He definitely has the potential to move up. He just has not taken that next step (yet). He was 1W-7L in 1/2 point matches last season. The win was against Whitman (who I am a big fan of actually) and the losses were still losses in which he has never beaten the other opponent before, so they don't really matter until he does get a DUB against one/some if them. I am okay if he proves me wrong this season. -

285 Tiers Discussion, 2023-2024 InterMat Edition

Also gents... lets see what you guys have for tiers? I want to hear 'em. You can even base your tiers differently. Keep in mind when looking at mine... I wouldn't be surprised to see gents in adjacent tiers beating the piss out of each other or calling them toss-ups, depending on the matchup. A tier 5 could beat a 4 then that 4 beat a 3 and I wouldn't be surprised. I would be surprised if that 5 beat that 3, though, and a match between that 3 and 5 would show that. -
285 Tiers Discussion, 2023-2024 InterMat Edition

Well the beauty of them is these are my tiers. I am open to being convinced otherwise, but I don't have enough evidence to make me think Feldman isn't going to be Tier 3 (now Tier 4) right out the gate. Technically I did drop him to Tier 4 now, though. Joke aside, I know ranking services don't take outside results in to account (Freestyle, Exhibitions, etc), however Feldman demolished Catka and in two straight when he (Feldman) was fresh out of high school. I am okay putting him there based on that. -

He hasn't been a sleeper for years. -
If he was 138 in the fall prior to his senior year, do you think he will be able to hold 133 consistently?

I am a fan of five. I started with that. I am okay with six in this scenario. We discussed and have grown it to here. -

I just realized by doing this I also put Davison in his own tier as well. -

I could see that and would get that. I also don't see any of the current Tier 3 beating Cassioppi, just Davison and Schultzy, should they meet. My hestation then becomes that I could see Davison giving Kerk or Hendrickson a match. Until it happens, though, I can concede Cassioppi into his own Tier 2, sliding every tier down one. With the adjustment of Pitzer and Schultzy down an additional one as well. My adjusted tiers would then be... - TIER 1 - Kerkvliet, Penn State Hendrickson, Air Force - TIER 2 - Cassioppi, Iowa - TIER 3 - Davison, Michigan - TIER 3 - Slavikouski, Rutgers Elam, Mizzou Fernandez, Cornell Bastida, Iowa State Schultzy, Arizona State Feldman, the Ohio State - TIER 4 - Luffman, Illinois Pitzer, Pittsburgh Nevills, Maryland Griess, Navy Ghadali, Campbell Taylor, Lehigh Gordon, Northern Iowa Catka, Virginia Tech Trephan, NC State - TIER 5 - Doucet, Oklahoma State Wolfgram, West Viriginia Bullock, Indiana Heindselman, Oklahoma Niesenbaum, Duke Copass, Purdue -

Davison has beaten Cassioppi before, albeit in a different style. If you are only looking at their Folkstyle results in-season, which I understand, you would also notice that Cassioppi is trending down in not only his series with Davison but his series with Kerkvliet. VS Davison - 1/14/22, Win via Dec 7-3 - 1/13/23, Win via Dec 3-2 - 3/4/23, Win via Dec 4-2 (SV-1) VS Kerkvliet - 3/6/21, Win via Major 9-0 - 1/28/22, Win via Dec 7-2 - 3/5/22, Win via Dec 6-4 (SV-1) - 1/27/23, Loss via Dec 4-1 - 3/4/23, Loss via Dec 5-0 What I mean to say is that Kerkvliet has separated himself. He improved more the last year than Cassioppi. Davison has also improved more. What you are also ignoring is that Kerkvliet beat a guy who pinned him, in Hendrickson at the same season ending NCAAs this year. At the same tournament Cassioppi lost to Parris via 16-1 Techfall where Kerkvliet lost via 5-1 Decision. Kerkvliet has earned himself next tier up due to his results. Are we going to say Cassioppi is going to beat Parris because he techfalled him back their senior season in High School when Parris was first coming up from 220? No. These guys are ever-evolving and Kerkvliet has separated himself. -
125, 141, and 149 could all 0-2 at NCAAs or they could win 2-4 matches and mid-AA. I wouldn't be surprised by either. They all improved quite throughout the season last year and I expect another pretty good leap. I think 197 and 285 have the same mid-AA peak potential, but have a higher floor. I would expect both to win at least two matches at NCAAs. Maryland could have as many as five (5) AAs next year. I expect two. Let's put the over/under at 3.5. I think if they ball out at NCAAs they could see in your higher range and I wouldn't be surprised. Just like I wouldn't be surprised to see them around 15-20 points depending on how the brackets line up for the big guys.
