This explains a lot (lack of stall calls on top)

Me and some friends played golf at Whistling Straits. That place has a lot of sand traps. One of my friends complains to the head pro "There are too many sand traps on this blasted golf course!". Head pro says back, "If you don't like them then why did you hit the ball there?". If you don't like your plight on bottom, then why'd you let your opponent take you down? -
What is going on with O'Toole?

Foca gave Starocci a tough match. Not as tough as Mehki, but tougher than Labriola. Starocci's ability to ride like glue puts him in a class by himself at 174.
-
That was puzzling. Go re watch that match and consider how little effort Model put in after his one takedown compared to how active Haines was. Big difference, but sometimes refs see what they want to see.

I was impressed with a bunch of guys last night. Barnett at 125 even against overmatched Steen. Bravo Young did what he always does. I liked both guys at 149. Gomez seems more in control and wrestles great positionally. The inside trip in the first period was terrific. I like Van Ness too. That guy never gave up and came close on a double twice in period two. Gomez gave that double up to Daton Fix at the Scuffle a few years ago so maybe Sanderson sees something there. Haines is going to be trouble. He is already tough on top. Loves getting that Turk instantly and he used it to get to a bow and arrow and I love the way he was trying to finish that by planting Model's foot on the mat but that got stopped. Most impressed with how he converted his last TD. Model had his head buried and I didn't think he could bring that in but he did. He must be a lot stronger than he looks. Hamiti transitions so smoothly. I think he is going to come on and improve into the post season this year. Everyone at 174 and up at PSU. Sheesh. So many hammers.
-
Haines had his head stuffed and he pulled UW in easy. Nice work for a first year guy.

Wrestlestat says Hamiti will beat Facundo by TF. Bad Algo there.

So it is hard for me to comment about things that may have been posted somewhere else and at some other time as if they are relevent to this conversation. As for the comments you do quote above, you should consider context. You are taking small snippets of larger posts and weaving a narrative of them that may be misleading. I am not even sure exactly what you are arguing for or against. It seems you are arguing that PSU should not have taken Max Dean. Is this right? What staff would have turned Max Dean away? Then, after Dean wins the wrestle off what staff would appoint Beard the starter after he lost the wrestle off to Dean? I get the overall point that 4 years of Beard may turn out better than 2 years of Dean, but even if that pans out it does not mean the staff at Penn State made a mistake of any kind. So far they have been correct.

Who has gone out of their way to undermine Beard like he's not among the best this year?

Final 2022 Team Projections Based on Individual Rankings

Which top ten schools are at greatest risk of finishing lower than their spot above? My take is Pitt. -
Little surprised by that as I figured he'd be higher. Devin Carter and Daniel Lewis making the list were also unexpected. Thanks.
-
Thanks. I have seen stuff like this before and your data goes way back in time. I was aiming for your last ten years of time period to see where Spencer Lee was vs others. I figure he's probably first, but PSU has some guys who also scored high bonus so I am not sure.
-
If it is not too much to ask, I'd be curious as to who the top ten individual bonus point scorers are in order. I can imagine most of them, of course, but it would be an interesting stat.
-
Would Iowa allow Murin to wrestle Echemendia? Will they allow Lee to wrestle Drake Ayala? Those are two matches worth watching, but will they happen?
-
I would hate to have to try to come from behind to beat Hidlay. He will hang out on the edge in neutral to take away legit chances for you to score. He can also use that under hook to take time off the clock. From top I have seen him push guys straight out when he feels an escape coming on. Poetic justice that Keckeisen dragged him back inside the line to hit that suicide cradle.

Announcer thought RBY "got the full allotment" but he did not. 2 swipes only.

That was a work of art. Keckeisen started down in period 2, got the escape, then shot a head inside single and Hidlay tried to kick out towards the circle while Keckeisen tried to climb up. Keckeisen caught the one leg and started to pull Hidlay back in and Hidlay seemed to lose focus for a split second and got his head too close and Keckeisen slapped a cradle on him real fast. Then Keckeisen rolled over his back to get Hidlay rolled to his back as well. Held him down with his own back towards the mat but Hidlay's shoulders were perfectly flat a good while.
