  1. Now that the brackets are out, out of the 5 teams that won the draw to be in the tourney - who does the best? Who makes the most money out of their chance?
  2. I just left working in college athletics after a few decades this summer to be a degenerate and now they change the restrictions? c'mon . . . what rotten timing
  3. That image of Hayden so distraught after that match is burned into my mind; I can picture it crystal clear still
  4. For claiming you aren't being defensive, you came after me about it and just can't seem to let that comment go can you? I know what my initial statement was, I explicitly explained that my larger point was just my opinion that Grey is whiny and complains more than most and that I'm not looking to get into an internet fight. I tried to turn this into a wrestling discussion but it's clear you aren't interested so I'll bid you adieu. Congrats on your internet victory and have a wonderful Wednesday.
  5. Your name here is "BigRedFan" but Mike Grey isn't "your guy"? He's been in Ithaca since 2006 (ish?), was a 2x AA and is the current Cornell HC but he's not "your guy"? I enjoy talking wrestling. I don't enjoy internet fights that never change anyone's mind. I am intrigued about why you wouldn't claim him as "your guy". I acknowledge that we could have different interpretations of "your guy". I'm using it in the way that I imagine most fans of a successful wrestling program will largely back their coach - Iowa and their existential crisis about Brands being the exception. Do you care to elaborate about why Mike Grey isn't BigRedFan's "guy"?
  6. This may surprise you but I don't actually have stuff like that bookmarked nor do I care enough about anonymous message board posts to go peruse Grey's twitter or listen to post match press conferences to find examples; I typically see stuff like that (from any coach), roll my eyes, and move on. My point was just that Grey is whiny and complains a lot; and sometimes it's a bit hypocritical. You are obviously defensive, which you have every right to be - you're BigRedFan so he's your guy and you clearly have a bias here (we all do for our team of choice no shame in that) so there's no point in trying to argue cause even if I did provide examples I'm sure you would try to argue them down or justify it. Especially ending both posts w/ the passive aggressive "Thanks"; just doesn't feel like a conversation worth having so go ahead and declare "victory" over me or call me a name for failing to spend the rest of my day listening to a plethora of Mike Grey sound bites for examples. You want specifics; I'm just not going to waste my day doing that - I just happen to think he's whiny and complains more than most; that's all.
  7. An example of Mike Grey whining and complaining? I mean . . . pick one?
  8. Mike Grey will be the first to whine and complain and let everyone know if someone ducks a Cornell wrestler though . . .
  9. This decommit bummed me out; Pitt keeping a stud WPIAL kid home is good for the sport. Hoping after he looks around he realizes Pitt is it after all . . . that is unless he decides to go out west to my team of choice obviously
  10. Agreed, especially w/ the bad blood between the MW and PacX in the conference offices; Air Force would be ruled out for the same reason. Arizona St, Okie St, Iowa St, and West Virginia are Big 12 bona fides. Mizzou and Oklahoma are affiliates but more like step brothers or half brothers; whichever you feel is more appropriate. No chance UNI leaves. Utah Valley and Cal Baptist make the most sense; if I had to speculate on someone else than I would say the Dakotas and Northern Colorado is the Wild Card that I have no idea.
  11. That's on me - I always get those two leagues mixed up; the point stays the same about the reflection on MAC wrestling. It's football decision to get football in the MW and finding a home for the rest of their sports
  12. Northern Illinios is leaving the MAC in all sports - headed to the Mountain West for football and the rest of their sports are finding a home in the Summit League so I don't think this is in anyway a concern about the future of the MAC wrestling
  13. Is there any update on them becoming official?
  14. No idea if it's true but I've heard affiliates in the Big 12 get no seat at the table per say; I also think the flip would stabilize the Pac 12 for wrestling and provide a potentially easier path to NCAAs for those schools (like how splitting off from the EIWA allowed more Ivy qualifiers this past year)
  15. Well 2 reasons mainly 1. The conference needs to add another school to have an AQ for NCAAs 2. Cal Baptist and Utah Valley just switched their primary conference affiliation to the same conference as Bakersfield and Cal Poly so that doesn't seem like a crazy leap to get them into the same wrestling conference
  16. Northern Illinois announced today they'll be a Pac affiliate starting 26-27 season. Pac needs at least 1 more to maintain AQ status for wrestling. I imagine they'll pry some of the Big12 affiliates away . . .
  17. I am fortunate enough to have been in the room for weigh ins for a Big Ten tourney and made a point to watch Deakin get on the scale - wanted to see for myself that he actually could make 157 because he certainly did not look it.
  18. True story - I wore a kilt to prom and everyone knows a true Scot doesn't wear anything under his kilt . . .
  19. *Respected a Scotsman cause of his Scottishness Fixed it for you
  20. I'm friends with someone who was a room guy at Nebraska; wrestled live w/ Burroughs, Green, etc. He's said multiple times the only times he ever felt truly lost on a mat; to the point that he felt like didn't even know how to wrestle was the first minute to 90 seconds against Downey when Downey was w/ Nebraska. . . then Downey would gas out and be useless but my buddy still marvels at the raw ability of Downey
  21. I hope not cause that means he was extremely successful in Greco but as a Beavs fan I sure as heck wish he was gonna be toeing the line in Corvallis this year
  22. That would classify as very limited success haha
  23. Didn't Dake when he was struggling to make a world team in freestyle make a run at Greco one year to little success?
  24. There will be no more Americans wrestling today. I've got to boogie soon but here's who USA is tracking for repechage Black at 60 kg is pulling for Kazakhstan (Sultangali) Sancho at 72 kg is pulling for France (Ghanem) Foy at 97 kg is pulling for Georgia (Matcharashvilli)
  25. That Georgian looked significantly bigger than Foy
