Qatar also hired an Iranian Coach for their national team. I am OK with it, as long as they are not taking the top wrestlers. I love the idea of having multiple Iranians in the world championship and Olympics. To be fair, hiring a coach from Iran is an investment in their wrestling. I agree a better way to invest in wrestling is to do what India did about 10-20 years ago. They hired coaches from Iran, Georgia and elsewhere, and developed talent.

I really do not know. I know I would LOVE to see Masoumi get good enough to pass Zare, but so far, their matches are a bit one sided. Reminds me a bit of the Yazdani/Ghassempour rivalry. But I am only speaking for myself, no idea, what the sentiment in Iran is.

Thanks for all the updates Overall, this has been a pretty good tournament for Iran. I had high hopes for Khalili, Khateri, Rezai and Khoramdel. But they are all pretty young, and hopefully this will be a learning experience.

I think a healthy Yazdani will defeat Azarpira. Very few people have come back from one major should surgery, and he has had two.

I can only express my personal opinion. I would love to see Masoumi take over the spot, but so far Zare has completely dominated him, and none of their matches have been close. Masoumi is probably top 4 in the world, but there appears to be a big gap between him and Zare at the moment. Masoumi is still very young and I am hoping that he will continue to improve.

i cannot speak for all iranian fans, but as for me, I like the move. I think he has to cut too much at 86 and it impacts his cardio. This is all assuming he can come back from two shoulder surgeries
