  1. We wanted him to lose every match against Iranians, but as wrestling fans, we can only respect him and his wrestling.
  2. Yes, the Iranian fans were relentless on social media. You should see their comments on social media now, nothing by praise for Taylor
  3. I believe Taylor traded words with the coach, Pejman Dorostkar. I don't believe Dabir was at the mat. The Iranian fans were chanting "we love you" to Taylor after that match.
  4. by the way, Dabir is the head of Iran wrestling federation, and former Olympic and world champion
  5. There are people asking to make him the next coach of the national team. I would love it if it happened

  7. Wow Read the Iranian fans comments praising David Taylor https://www.instagram.com/reel/DB1mAX4udA9/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  8. This one is short, so I will translate it https://www.khabarvarzeshi.com/news/482369/پیام-ویژه-حسن-یزدانی-برای-دیوید-تیلور In the past years, having a great competitor such as you has been the biggest motivation to compete in any condition, which is the key to success. I wish you success in your new journey, and I hope that you enjoy every segment in your path.
  9. Ono asks to Swap singlet with DT https://www.facebook.com/reel/1257132718761185?fs=e&mibextid=0NULKw&fs=e&s=TIeQ9V
  10. I have no idea, but I think you can rule out anti-American sentiment based on how they hugged each other at the beginning of the match. I did see Ghassempour complain to the referee about something when the first half ended, pointing to DT, but they shook hands again at the beginning of the second period.
  11. In case anyone care, here are the team standings
  12. A great champion like DT deserved to go out with a great win like this. Congratulations to him.
  13. A great champion like David Taylor deserved to go out with a good win like this. Congratulations to him
  14. Here are a couple of pictures of Yazdani and Ghassempour next to each other
  15. Many thanks for the great updates. I had to search in between all the posts about the important and urgent age dispute to find them, but I managed
  16. Ghassempour weighed in at 89 kg today
  17. Apparently internet is down at the arena. I don't think there will be any broadcasting today until they fix it.
  18. In all honesty, the only reason Ghassempour moved up to the non olympic weight of 92, is that for many years, he could never beat Yazdani. He was 86 for years before he moved up. when the Yazdani came from back his injury, Ghassempour was trying out for 97, and he decided it would be too difficult to get down to 86 after bulking up for 97. During this world championship, they said he was at 91 without losing weight, so he is definitly a natural 86. When you look at Yazdani and Ghassempour next to each other, Yazdani looks a little bigger.
  19. All your points is valid. There is a background that you may not be aware of. Ever since Taylor dominated Yazdani, there has been a strong vocal group in Iran arguing that Ghassempour's style is a much better match for Taylor than Yazdani, and specially for the olympics with Yazdani's injury, there were more people arguing that Ghassempour should go instead of Yazdani. If Ghassempour beats Taylor, specially if he does so with a margin, the "should have" and "could have" arguments will never end in Iran
  20. Good tournament for Japan, Russia and Georgia so far with two wrestlers in each of the finals. Georgia's wrestlers are going against Russians, and I don't like their chances too much
  21. The problem is even if he beats Taylor, people are going to say that he won because Taylor was not near his peak.
  22. Brain Fart is a very accurate way to describe it. At least Nokhodi finally beat JB, so he has something to be happy about, but Ghassempour really F'd up
  23. Ghassempour had a reputation of being a smart wrestler, but now I wonder. With 8 seconds left, all he had to do was stand there and defend if needed. There was no upside in shooting like he did. This was his chance to build his legacy after all his losses to Yazani for the last decade. The problem is even if he beats Taylor, people are going to say that he won because Taylor was not near his peak.
  24. I am sure Taylor will destroy everyone in his way to the match to Ghassempour yes, the silver lining is that we will say Taylor vs Ghassempour, but I still cannot believer Ghassempour gifted the match to Sadulaev with 8 seconds left
