I'm curious about this. I thought the Jordan Oliver rule change eliminated the "head up" requirement for a takedown. That was in 2013 so it may have changed again.

I'm glad to hear someone agrees with me on 149. I enjoyed watching Lovett in early rounds but the final was awful and I felt bad for Henson.

Edge of the mat wrestling and edge of the mat refereeing are hurting the sport. it reminds me of the old Dean Smith 4 Corners offense in basketball. It was effective for Dean to get wins but it was punishing for the fans and brought about rule changes. -
No one has mentioned how or if this affects the wrestlers. Boomer comment incoming: 50 years ago they experimented with changing the order of matches by random draw for college dual meets. Everyone hated it, fans and wrestlers. The lightweights were used to going first and the heavies were used to going later. The idea died quickly that season.

Burroughs dug a hole last season with more than a few fans during the NCAA tournament while calling a Starocci match. It may have been Shane Griffith. Starocci was competing with the bad knee and Burroughs said he would definitely be attacking that knee. I'm sure every Starocci opponent thought the same but the way he expressed it on camera was odd. I do remember Bo Nickal (the master of diplomacy) taking exception. I repeat. I don't hate Burroughs. I just think there are better announcers for the sport.

Wyo Buchanan lost to Ferrari OU Buchanan lost to Ferrari I think Iowa Buchanan has added to his playbook (weight room+Big 10 competition) enough that this third time will be a charm. Plus he will win Saturday night.

Not every great wrestler makes a great announcer. I don't hate Burroughs. I just don't like his color commentary skills.

Add Hardell Moore to your list. He called the Big 12 early and non-final rounds. He is also excellent. Burroughs is cringe. I keep waiting for him to mention that he beat Mesenbrink in the trials.

Same here except my wife is a dedicated basketball fan (UNC) and is usually at the regional tournament this weekend giving me full access to TV and kitchen. With the Tarheel's season she decided not to go this year so we might have TV issues but she can always go to Buffalo Wild Wings and watch a bb game which the Heels will probably lose.
