    Any team that replaces an upper classman with a new recruit (be it portal or freshman ) shows disloyalty towards existing athletes.

    Loyal to their wrestlers? Or loyal to their presumed stud starters? Nobody says a word when wrestlers with a 3-20 record are recruited over!

    Im.not. saying the coaches or athletic dept failed it is failure by the institution as a whole. The school has bigger concerns and that's ok

    Yup and Oklahoma State was Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical at one time as well, the powers that be made the call and look where they are today.

    I look at PSU and see where they were pre-Sanderson and wonder why other teams with the same sort of success haven't made strides forward like they have. Oklahoma? Illinois? Michigan State? Indiana? Wisconsin? Etc?? Why aren't they doing better? Sure they all can't be #1 but they sure can do better.

    I'm saying the schools had the opportunity to become athletic powerhouses and decided that was the road they did not want to travel down. The decision might have been made 75 years ago but it is what it is.

    Clarion failed to parlay their excellence under Bob Bubb into future success. Maybe it was the athletic dept maybe it was the school or at the state level but the ball was dropped. Opportunity existed and somebody squandered it. It is obvious that wrestling and athletics are not a priority at Clarion and many other schools. Decisions were made and that is OK

    Every team in the NCAA has had the same opportunities to raise funds and hire good coaches and build good facilities. I hate hearing about the haves and have nots. Some schools chose to act, some schools didn't!. This phenomenon does not just apply to recent history

    Chandler needs to go! Never hire from within a failed program and that is exactly what Msu did when they hired Chandler.

    Some of those old timers were special! 40s 50s and 60s had some real studs. 70s as well! Recent guy that's gets forgotten is Greg Jones Jimmy Jackson is another on that is often forgotten

    Nance lost in the semis to Bob Billberg of Moorhead State (MN) who was the NAIA champ that year (66) MSU was dual affiliated back then so they wrestled in two national tournaments

    Not much D1 overlap between divisions anymore with the lower levels not counting towards D1 RPI. The last two D2 wrestlers that really had success against D1s were both HWTs Dlagnev and Sigman. I remember talking to Conrad once after he had lost to Sigman earlier in the season and asked how Les would do at D1s his response was not as good as Midlands because we would all have tape on him and be prepared

    Not sure if there is enough crossover any more. D1s don't want to wrestle 2s & 3s since those matches don't count on RPI. We used to top teir D2s and 3s at Midlands and Vegas and DIs used to go to.the big opens like CMSU and Omaha but not so so much nowadays

    If you want to win the D1 championship, go to a D1 school and enjoy the D1 grind and follow the D1 eligibility standards
