Illinois - Rutgers would be close. A lot of tight matches.
125 - not sure if the transfer from ISU is coming now?
133 - Lucas Byrd
141- Danny Pucino
149- Kannon Webster
157- Braedon Scoles
165- Chris Moore
174- Danny Braunagel
184- Edmond Ruth
197- Zach Braunagel
285- Luke Luffman
i would favor Illinois at 149, 165, 184. Rutgers at 125 and probably 285. The rest are toss ups.
Someone can stay at the same school and get paid still. Could be a whole bunch of different guys. Figs, Fix, Vito, Mendez, Henson, Gomez, Shapiro, Carr, Welsh, Keck, Plott, Hidlay, or Davison.
Iowa should really be throwing a blank check at Alirez to get him in the HWC moving forward. A foundation of Spencer Lee and Alirez would be a massive upgrade from what the HWC has had in recent past.
He did wrestle 184 for awhile but his best wins are definitely at 174. He has been a bit up and down in his career but two years ago he had wins over Cade Devos, Demetrius Romero, Gavin Sax and Lance Runyan. His best wins last year were over Gavin Sax (x2), Alex Cramer and Brayden Thompson. I guess he kind of has Sax's number.
If you look at Carter's redshirt year and his RSFr year stats he was wrestling close matches with NQ type guys (Jared Siegrist, Ben Harvey, lost to Donnell Washington). He did not have any signature wins over AA's his redshirt year and had a bunch of close matches his RSFr year. Starocci is a winner and found a way to win all of those close matches. Dake did the same. We will see if Gabe and Angelo are able to do the same.
I think he could grow into 86kg nicely. He might not be elite at freestyle yet but he certainly has a skillset that should translate nicely. He holds position really well, rarely ever gets taken down, good hand fighter.
