  1. Well, they haven't uncovered any signfiicant fraud at all. Just claiming that there are "a lot" of 160 year olds getting social security that shouldn't get it, but they haven't provided any hard data to back their claims about widespread fraud. Besides, we all knew that there was SOME social security and medicare fraud. I'm still waiting to hear about all the new findings of fraud going on. As far as cuts, the problem is that they are deciding on their own what to cut. All of these cuts should be approved by Congress. As far as which ones are the most harmful to Americans, that is a matter of opinion. For me, I'd say firing inspector generals from all of the largest agencies, firing attorneys simply for working on the Jan 6 investigation (as they were instructed), pausing all federal grants and loans, and shutting down the consumer financial protection bureau are the worst ones.
  2. Funny that President Musk makes all these accusations about social security fraud, but only willing to do it on social media so far, and show no proof whatsoever. You can say whatever you want when you're accountable to nobody.
  3. He doesn't have authority to do either, by himself. This is much larger than anecdotal, cherry-picked expenditures through USAID. It is across federal agencies and laws.
  4. He is single-handedly (or double if you want to count President Musk) away money that was appropriated by Congress and also choosing NOT to enforce the laws that he is supposed to. Clearly violating the Constitution on two fronts. It really can't get any simpler.
  5. They obviously screwed up since they asked for the people to come back. Don't need to dig any deeper than that.
  6. more deflecting, and not even a good deflection since that's a local issue
  7. If you can't defend the actions of your tribe, just resort to ad hominem attacks. The wingers playbook.
  8. It's very simple. The money was appropriated by Congress and the agencies are charged with enforcing laws that were also passed by Congress. It's a very straightforward 100% violation of the Constitution for President Musk (with diaper donald's approval) to decide on their own to shut down whatever agencies they choose.
  9. Proof that these idiots are being reckless and not really thinking though what they're doing. Not only that, but this is causing significant havoc in peoples' lives. Who cares though, right? They're just piece of garbage federal workers. First, they accidentally fire people from the nuclear safety agency. Now, they accidentally fire agency employees who are working on the federal government's response to the H5N1 avian flu outbreak
  10. They followed it by not trying to shut down whatever govt agencies they wanted without congressional approval.
  11. Nice deflection, but a completely different subject. Whether Musk is telling Trump what to do or Trump approves whatever he does (as if there's a huge difference), there are no checks and balances anymore. You ever hear of the Constitution and the Founding Fathers? You don't care about that garbage anymore though. How convenient.
  12. the wingers are still looking for all this fraud so they keep going to what they consider to be "waste," which is any spending they don't like. HIlarious. You can't make this stuff up. The ignorance is amazing.
  13. Right and wrong doesn't matter to the wingers, one bit. You're either loyal to diaper boy or not. That's all that matters.
  14. Wow. This one lady who says she knows somebody that told her.... Definitely a major problem here. No doubt. Lmfao.
  15. Wow, so we're comparing a person that rapes and kidnaps/holds women against their will for sex trafficking to teachers that tell kids its OK to have a sex change or doctors that provide transgender services (very rare and almost all of those are chest-related anyway) for teens? WOW!!!!!!!
  16. If you aren't trying to draw a cause-effect relationship then I don't really care to take it any farther because I'm not arguing that there isn't a correlation. If you are trying to draw a cause-effect relationship, then back it up. If you aren't, then what's the significance?
  17. I'd like to see some real data on how much fraud he's found. Still waiting....
  18. We all knew there was social security (and medicare) fraud on an individual level. That fraud should be eliminated to the extent practicable. We are also all in agreement with that. I think we still are. Please show me something new and significant. I agree that's nice if we can wipe out the payments for a few 160 year olds but how many of them are there (how many did he really find) and how much is this really going to save? Again, we're talking fractions of fractions of fractions of single penny if the entire federal budget is a dollar. Now, if we can take down corporations that are fraudulently getting tens of billions of dollars each (most likely as part of the Pentagon budget), then I'd be more enthusiastic. That's a much lower priority for DOGE for convenient reasons, if its even something they want to look for. Meanwhile, we'll actually increase overall fraud with the laying off of federal workers that oversee the money going out, including IRS agents that make sure people aren't committing fraud on their taxes.
  19. OMG. I'm actually pointing out what a dumb argument this is. See Caveira's point above. I'm making fun of it.
  20. We already knew this was a problem
  21. So, I think we should gut 95% of our military spending. I guess that means that 95% of our military spending is "fraud." Great logic.
  22. $2.7T in fraud, or $2.7T in "waste," based merely upon the fact that they didn't like it?
  23. OK. Usually wingers try to draw cause-effect relationships without further data when they find a correlation that they like. If you aren't doing that, then my bad. It does appear to be a factual correlation. I would add that I think it applies to men too, from what I can tell. Perhaps the correlation is stronger for women. If so, the reasons why would be interesting to look into.
  24. I think it's pretty clear that these are common sense associations. All other factors being equal, a healthy person with more money will be happier than a person that has to live on welfare due to health problems. Same with most or all of the other factors I cited above. No, I'm not going to "look it up," because I know that you know it's true. I'm sure there are plenty of studies that prove these correlations if you do a simple search. You're the ones (or at least Caveira) that appear to be implying that there is cause-effect relationship here, so the onus is on you. Or are you merely saying there is a correlation and stopping right there? If so, then I don't have a problem. The majority of scientific studies do appear to show this correlation. While interesting, a correlation doesn't really mean much because there can be dramatically different reasons for any correlation.
  25. Yes, Fox being the most viewed news/entertainment outlet in the country is certainly part of "the media."
