  1. Let's assume it's a close match, like 3-1 and Dean has :42 RT. If Beard doesn't win the flip and has to choose in the third do you think he is going down or is he staying on his feet in that scenario? What if it is a one point match or tied up and Dean doesn't have RT? What if Beard has a lead and *does* have a RT point - do you think he stays on feet if the score is 3-3 and he has 1:01 of RT? I know it's not likely but this is a really intriguing matchup that I hope for us fans plays out like a chess match.
  2. Prop bet: Dean O/U riding time +1:59 and I’ll take the over
  3. Did you try repenting harder? Maybe an extra hail mary for Montini's sake? [no clue if Providence and Montini are still powerhouses lol]
  4. To add to her legend, when she competed there were only two classes in IL and the Glenbard North sectional (the tournament that defines state qualifiers in IL) consistently would have all three qualifiers place at state + one/two would typically place at Fargo. Absolute meat grinder hotbed of talent - this was the same small geographic area that Bormet based Overtime out of to give context. And Caitlyn Chase took it to those boys to become the first female state qualifier long before separate tournaments existed.
  5. Honestly he is just as close as least year. But so is the rest of the 197 field. If you take last year's bracket and wrestle it 10 times you would get 14-20 different finalists - the champion had two match-deciding calls go his favor in large part due to his last name and The Carl Effect. If Warner is a 2x finalist or DNPs in March no one will bat an eye. That's just the state of 197 since Nickal and Moore graduated.
  6. Caitlyn Chase deserves very strong consideration for her contributions at GBN
  7. I honestly believe it goes all the way back to their Fargo match. But Hidlay does live on the edges against comparable opponents that he doesn't overwhelm so it's not just Brooks, it's just that there aren't many NCAA opponents that can match his strength to motor him around.
  8. Semantically correct. +1 you win the day, just like Mocco back in 2008.
  9. Agreed. O’Toole has all the goods and is in position to take The Leap but 165 is a meat grinder with multiple national champions and I would take odds for the field because that’s how these things go *especially* at 165 recently.
  10. You’re giving an A to anyone who gets a riding time point and your criteria is “elite wrestlers only?” I would be concerned of anyone who does *not* get an A based on your grading rubric. Anyone who is a top 3 or better SHOULD be getting all As like a smart kid in a crappy public high school based on your rule set.
  11. A few months ago I beat Aaron Brooks. How can someone who can't even go undefeated be the best? -Myles Amine
  12. If you're comparing P4P then not everyone can be an A. I would think a ranking system would look better for what you are asking. Also, if Lee is a C on bottom then your criteria should put Kerk at an F- on top and bottom. Doesn't matter if he got the takedown or was taken down, he is always fully extended and stares at the ref with a befuddled look wondering why they are still in par terre instead of going back to feet. It's always a funny awkward face that makes me giggle when the lightbulb goes off that he's not in a freestyle match.
  13. I did mention AOC and it was tongue in cheek. I always throw in a line about someone from IL - of course he's not in the same level as multi-time champs and world medalists lol. Not sure why you would grade Lee a C on bottom though? When he makes it to the second period and goes down then he gets out quick. Brooks on top is fine... he controls the mat and walks away with 3+ mins of riding time usually. But he doesn't turn people at the rate of other hammers and if you're talking about a P4P then there has to be a higher level of dominance taken into the grading rubric.
  14. Spencer Lee would like a word.
  15. What... you all think I'm going to stop being an Illinois homer all of a sudden?
  16. False. It’s just a crappy weight class and don’t @ me with that Amine bs Lee, RBY, Yianni, AOC, off the top of my head. Brooks is a terminator but the best? NAHHHHH
  17. Cass, Kerk, Parris, and (unfortunately because he is as boring as greco) Schultz would rightfully be multi-time champs in most any era. We have been fortunate to see 285 take huge leaps domestically starting with Tommy Rowland (despite not beating Mocco when it mattered the most-most). Very enlightening to see the transcendence of the weight class.
  18. Pounds not keggers haha. I was venting online because I wasn’t about to have the audacity to whine to my better half that I was missing TV because of the kiddo.
  19. AND I COULDNT JOIN UNTIL 65 THANKS TODDLER
  20. Is Gomez on a mission, is Sasso cutting too much, has Sasso been figured out? Combination?
  21. I remember a long time ago when I thought Kerk was the second coming of Jesus and I think my quote was "He's going to blast Cassioppi to the moon. There are levels to this game." So anyways unlike Kerkvliet, I'm learning from my mistakes and taking Cassioppi. At this point I feel like Kerk fizzles against high wrestling IQ opponents who can match/near his sheer power (Cass, Nelson, etc) but would gladly like to be proven otherwise.
  22. So much juicy action here and there's no way a 5 leg parlay could miss! McKee to cover | Byrd to win | Sasso to win | Brooks to easily cover -2 and light up the scoreboard like a Christmas tree | O'Toole to pin Or you can be a stupid homer and go for the IL WINS parlay Byrd + Gomez + Lewan + Warner + Cassioppi wins
  23. You may act like you’re a peach schnapps but we all know you’re much closer to a fancy hazelnut
  24. Very jealous when did you go? I have three left on my bucket list (olympics, WC, Yaryguin) and I’ve had to miss 2 multiple times despite semi-favorable conditions because of work.
  25. The thing people forget is that Taylor come onto the international radar as a world team backup who got some run at the World Cup and that’s when he pinned Yazdani in their first encounter. It’s not like missing starters is a new phenomenon.
