  1. You give Alberts too much credit. I believe he is a current coward.
  2. A fascinating race is being set up. Donald Trump needs to post a $454 million bond in order to appeal his fraud conviction in NY. If the deadline is not extended, the bond is due on Monday. As of right now, Trump is having a hard time securing financing for the bond. How strange. His defense was that whatever he made up about his financial condition was fine because banks were willing to lend to him regardless, since they knew he was worth far more than the loans. Now he can't get them to lend him money against his real estate holdings. Instead they want cash or marketable securities. And of course, they take a haircut, so they actually want something like $557 million of securities to lend him $454 million. Meanwhile, DWAC, the SPAC looking to acquire Trump Media, has a shareholder vote on Friday to approve the deal that would be worth ~$2.8 billion to Trump. If the vote is Friday and the bond is due Monday, can he get the shares in time? Not normally, but I wouldn't count it out in this case. He would also need to get DWAC to agree to wave a provision that says he cannot sell or post the shares as collateral for at least six months (lockup agreement), which, I think they would. But if you are a bank, how much would you lend against those shares? Before you answer, remember that DWAC is a meme stock. Truth Social has never made money. The stock price is pretty much a measure of Trump's celebrity. And the stock is locked up for six months. So if things went sideways you could not sell the collateral for some period of time. Aint finance grand?
  3. Yeah, like I said, 17 v 16
  4. He arranged the byes so that his wrestlers would be guaranteed enough matches (all layups) to up their match total and win% to secure some AQ spots.
  5. Every 125 match. I love these 17 v 18 matchups, but especially the rematches: The Teague v Mauller rematch at 157 The Brown v Bouzakis rematch at 133
  6. No Hokies? Might be time to change the first letter of your username.
  7. Wasn't on the ropes eliminated as a qualifying criteria last year?
  8. Dresser actual broke a rule. He just wasn't punished for it.
  9. 30 entries and counting. Nice work.
  10. Yes, last time round they were on Peacock.
  11. I interviewed him for the position, but he could only count to two.
  12. Attention: Mark Manning: When I clicked on the link I was surprised it did not take me to Twitter.
  13. https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/championships/sports/wrestling/d1/men/2023-24D1MWR_ChampionshipsTimeline.pdf This document suggests the replacements are decided at the time of weigh-in on 3/21
  14. There are two. This is the older more trafficked site: https://pennstate.forums.rivals.com/forums/the-wrestling-room.16/ This is the newer site that split from the older site: https://www.on3.com/boards/forums/the-wrestling-room.50/
  15. Carter Starocci's own actions would suggest otherwise, but so what? Starocci earned the #1 seed, Wilson earned the #12 seed.
  16. This is a massive undertaking. Thank you so much for doing this and sharing with everyone. Man of the people.
  17. Found it. 2018. Turns out it is tough when you are corn fed. Nebraska freshman 133-pounder Jason Renteria did not make weight Thursday morning and was scratched from the tournament. Northwestern's Colin Valdiviez replaced Renteria in the bracket as an alternate. Scott DelVecchio had to be happy with the development, even though he and Renteria were on opposite sides of the bracket. Renteria beat the Rutgers senior three times this season, including twice at the Big Ten Championships two weeks ago. DelVecchio owns two wins against Valdiviez this season.
  18. I think @gimpeltf had info about this. If I recall correctly, the first alternate can be on site in case of a last minute change (like missed weight). The only missed weight I can remember was one in 2019 (or maybe 2018).
  19. Apparently, only the people down that hall have discovered the internet.
  20. Manning is saying exactly that. He gave an example of how he thinks Cael Sanderson should have handled Carter Starocci's situation. He is very clear on the subject.
  21. Yes, it is the coach's responsibility to win each year. Where the good of the sport comes in is the rule set. If the coach wins by breaking the rules, that is bad for the sport. As a result there are remedies for coaches who break the rules. And the remedies are designed, or should be designed, to make non-compliance more penal than compliance. If the argument is that the rules are bad because there was an outcome that the rule makers did not anticipate, then there is a remedy for that as well. Change the rules. As a matter of fact, we have seen massive rule changes in the past year alone, from how matches are scored to what it takes to qualify for the tournament, and what the seeding criteria are. And in this very instance, both the new qualification rule and the new seeding criteria came into play. Meanwhile, from a "pure casual fan, good of the sport" perspective, it is much better to have a three time champion who is going for four and did not receive any preferential treatment, in the the NCAA tournament, than to have a wrestler possibly make the tournament on a technicality after a season of results that do not justify his inclusion.
