Just went to Boise to see the Stringdusters in concert with my brother.   I just have to say I don't like bluegrass normally, I can listen a little.   I've never seen anything as awesome as this concert.   Absolutely incredible musicians.   They are just awesome.   It was a great night and I'll share a video here that is a good representation of what you will see, but this is just a taste.   I don't have enough superlatives in my language to say just how good they were.

My brother likes bluegrass and has seen these guys a number of times and just loves them.   I can see why.

Yesterday we spent the morning playing guitar.   I brought my Friedman BE Mini which is a little 30 watt amp that fit into my carry on along with all of my other stuff.   It has no speaker, it is just the amp.   My brother has a PA rig so we played through that.   It is blisteringly loud but sounded pretty good through his rig.   His son loaned him an ES-339 which we restrung and lowered the action on.   He has a Taylor acoustic/electric that was also plugged into the the PA.   I was able to tone mine down enough to blend with him and we just played and played.   It was a lot of fun.   So this little amp is a monster and growls with zero gain.   So you have to turn the pickup volume down to near zero to get a clean tone.   He showed me some bluegrass stuff that we jammed to, taking turns on lead breaks.   He's much better than me and was insistent I take one.   So I would and it was awful but fun just the same.   It was a great 2 days visiting with him.

We went to BSU and reminisced about the Boise State wrestling team.   Awful they got rid of it.   Anyway, it was a great couple of days, I found new respect for bluegrass players.   I knew they were good, but this is the difference like Kyle Snyder and all the rest.   They are just stratospheric in their talent.   I couldn't be more impressed.   I hope you like the video.   Watch it all the way through to get the full effect.
