There is a video Napheesa Collier ( Lynx player and WNBAP vice president) It explains a lot and has a quote of what Engelbert said. Maybe one of you talented gents could put on this thread. Thanks.

"Caitlin should be grateful she makes $16 million off the court because without the platform that the WNBA gives her, she wouldn't make anything."

I'm sure Caitlin is grateful because the WNBA pays peanuts.   But her quote is not wrong.   WNBA is a platform which allows women to make more than the salary they get.

For most that is true, but Caitlin chose to stay in college because it paid more than the WNBA and to build her brand. She was making more on endorsements before the WNBA. She is the face of the league so the commissioner should be thankful.

I hadn't considered NIL in that.   Interesting.

Clark was making several million a year in college. She still had one more year of eligibility when she left college. She would have made several million more had she stayed. When she was in college almost every game she played in home or away were sellout crowds. Clark value to the WNBA league is estimated to be close to a billion dollars. Thats correct, close to 1 billion dollars. Some estimates are even higher. When she arrived at the Indiana Fever the franchise was worth 90 million dollars. The value today 17 months later is 370 million dollars.
