This morning I got a picture of Matt Ramos pinning Spencer Lee pop up on my phone saying 2 years ago today. After remembering this I rewatched the clip and it still is the most electrifying moment in the history of collegiate wrestling in my opinion. Also, part of me feels like so much has happened with both Matt Ramos and Spencer Lee since. Spencer has taken the freestyle world by storm when many didn’t think that was possible and looks like he could be the next face of USA wrestling. Matt Ramos failed to AA last year and has had a spectacular season this year but after the Lilledahl match some are concerned that he can be a national champion. But bothing will change that result that night.

What does the PA guy say when the ref slaps the mat for the pin? I've never been able to figure out what he says right before he says "PURDUUUEEEE"

One thing that people tend to forget is that even without the pin, Ramos was still winning that match.

With his back points I believe he was ahead by 6 or 7 points.

It was 7-5 Lee before Ramos threw Lee to his back.

If no pin the match would have ended 11-8 Ramos (2 point takedown, 4 point nearfall, Lee still got the riding time point)

That match sent shockwaves through the board. Check out the live comment thread as it happened:

It was also notable how Spencer forfeited the rest of the tournament after losing.  But was seemingly 100% healthy a few weeks later.

He forfeited out of that freestyle tournament due to you know... post double knee surgery you casual.

Early first period termination, either style if they wrestled today.

I wouldn't think that Ramos would pin him in the first every time.

I hope he can run through the gauntlet and get to Spencer. It won't be pretty for Ramos.

I'll need to get stock in Lens Crafters.
