(Bloomberg) -- Mars Inc. is selling $26 billion of US high-grade bonds on Wednesday to fund its acquisition of rival foodmaker Kellanova, the biggest bond sale of the year so far.

Kellanova is Kellogs, the cereal company.   Mars is a candy company primarily.   I'm not sure how I feel about this, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.  Another one biting the dust it looks like.

I haven’t seen a Mars bar in forever.

They also make M&Ms, Snickers, Skittles, etc.

Both of my MIL’s parents worked for and retired at Mars. Great jobs and benefits for Polish immigrants/WWII survivors in Chicago. Without fail, they’d have a dish of Mars products in a glass bowl in their foyer, even after their combined age hit 200 years.

My MIL and wife both buy only their products for Halloween, etc.

Well, Mars candy is the best , no doubt.   I prefer it over Hershey and DOTS and other less desirable candies.  Although I can't have them anymore.   Mars bar and milky way are roughly the same but they do taste different to me.

Kellanova is not the cereal company.  It was split off from the cereal company. Its main brands are Cheez Its, Pringles, Pop Tarts, and Eggo.

Ah, my mistake.   I went to their website and saw all the old Kelloggs stuff and jumped to a conclusion.   Mars won't become as big as I thought.   Poor Kelloggs!  Half of an institution dies.

So now it will be Mars Pop Tarts?   That's just not right!!
