Results of the first 5 weight classes in Takhti tournament

https://khanehkoshti.ir/جام-جهان-پهلوان-تختی؛-قهرمانان-۵-وزن-نخ/

in 65 kg some unknown Indian humbled everyone and took gold

in 86 rahmani took gold.  The dream match against ghassempour that I was looking forward to did not happen because ghassempour had Covid.

There were some interesting results in most of the weight classes tbh. Ahmad Bazri winning 97kg beating Goleij in the quarters and Fariborz Babaei beating Mahdi Yousefi in the final was also an upset. The indian 65kg is an Asian junior champ but I don't think he has had any senior level success. I think he is coached by Amir Tavakolian and Komeil Ghasemi which probably explains why he was so good. Yasin Rezaei continues to be such an inconsistent wrestler he reminds of Amir Mohammad Yazdani. Sometimes his super offensive style works and other times it ends up costing him matches. In saying that though Jaskaran Singh genuinely could be really that good and be a dark horse contender for a world medal in Zagreb.

who is the indian I was going to look up some of his matches. Goleji I thought looked like he may be losing a step against Snyder at the ranking series part of that is because I think Snyder may be on the decline as well. Speaking of Amir Yazdani what happened to him? As a 22 year old teching akmataliev I thought he was going to be the future of 70kg maybe even 74.

The name of the indian is Jaskaran Singh. You can watch the finals match between him and Yasin Rezaei on an iranian youtube channel called Iransport it also shows the 57kg finals. Amir Mohammad Yazdani moved up to 74kg now and he will be competing at Takhti cup today. He also went to Yarygin and got bronze but he still has a lot to work on imo if he wants to become a contender at 74kg.

final score is deceiving but Zare beats Masoumi 8-2 Masoumi lead for a good portion of the second period probably the closest hes gotten so far.

Would you post the finals results for each weight class, please?

Correct me if I'm wrong here. I have never seen an Iranian compete elsewhere. They win it for their country and no one else

Yes, you are wrong, lol. They don't transfer nearly as much as Russians, but it does happen. We had a HW greco guy wrestling for Azerbaijan. He won them an olympic bronze  in 2016 if I remember right without googling. Another GR guy is wrestling for Qatar or Bahrain at the moment and another for Serbia.

Masoumi is posting angry stories on his instagram. I think he will switch countries in the coming years.

 57 - Momeni def Valizadeh 9 - 4

61 - Uulu ( Kyrgzstan) def Reza Momeni 4 - 3

65 - Indian dude spoken about previously def Yasin Rezaei 11 - 11 criteria

70 - Abdulkadyrov ( Russia) def Mohamad Amouzad by pin

74 - Yazdani def Emami 7 - 4

79 - Babai def Yousefi 5 - 3

86 - Rahmani def Kavousi 7 - 1

92 - Azimi def Sorabi 5 - 2

97 - Bazri def Babaloo 3 - 1

125 - Zare def Masoumi 8 - 2

A lot of names were missing even though everyone was meant to compete here. Some of the weight classes were pointless as the world team member had already been selected. This was supposed to be a very important step in the selection process with everyone competing but that did not happen in the end. I think only Zare and Momeni at 57 are guaranteed the world team spot based off this tournament.

So the 2025 world team so far for Iran is

57 - Momeni

61 - Javan

65 - Amouzad

70 - Undecided

74 - Undecided between Yazdani and Emami

79 - Undecided between Nokhodi and Babai

86 - Undecided - I will assume they will send Rahmani and Ghasempour to a tournament somewhere

92 - Firouzpour

97 - Bazri will need to somehow make the team over Azarpira. I don't see it happening. I guess they will send them to a tournament. Or just send Bazri to a tournament on his own and if he does not win they send Azarpira automatically.

125 - Zare

Amir reza Masoumi account on instagram with blue tick ( so the main genuine account) doesn’t have any posts since April so I haven’t seen any angry posts there but perhaps he had put up one and then deleted it- who knows. But he does not seem to be reacting to his loss on instagram at the moment

It was two stories. He deleted them.

Ah that makes sense- putting something up in the heat of the moment then deleting it when he has calmed down. It must be intolerable being stuck behind Zare where you could make your case on the wrestling mat for being amongst the world or Olympic medals. It would make sense, I agree with you, If he tried to compete for another country. As a wrestling fan it would also be interesting to see him compete against Zare and others in the world arena rather than just Takhti cup.

If there are any referees or rule experts reading this, I would love to know your reaction to the challenge reducing the 4 points awarded to Massoumi to 2 points.

by the way, they should never hold the tournament in Isfahan again.  Probably the only city in Iran that would not fill the stadium.

There was an Iranian 125kg who wrestled for Azerbaijan. I cannot remember if Greco or Freestyle. Only one I have ever seen.

Interesting to see Masoumi not get to an underhook once. Zare had head position the whole match and did not allow that underhook to do any work. Many Iranians do not need head position for their underhook, but this is what Zare did to stop it. He stuck his head right into the underhook side ahoulder. Also, Zare pushed him to the edge when it was 2-1, and Masoumi dropped his head to try to stay in and he got snapped down. I've never seen Masoumis head down or hands on the mat. He usually does all the pushing. Masoumi dictates everything about the matches he is in except with Zare. When he was losing, his shots had no set ups.

How any other professions or hobbies are there where you can be the second best in the world and functionally not have a career or accolades?

A few maybe, but wrestling is on that very sparse shortlist.

I was wondering if Masoumi would jump levels, given his age and weight class. What gave me trepidations was that he didn't look like the great past immature super heavyweight who were either thin-stringy teenish or soft with baby fat. Masoumi has the body and mass of a mature male, and he's had that for a while now.

I think the question is more now if Masoumi has a bad match up against Zare, or is he a tier below the creme de la creme tier of international 125kg ers?  We'll never see him against taha now, but my guess is he'd be competitive against Geno.  Zare was an absolute nightmare for Gwiz, and Gwiz had respectable matches against everyone else. So there is precedent for Zare's style being unusually difficult for some wrestlers.

I think removing gable from the convo they are the two best heavyweights in the world. Masoumi has killed mason twice and mason is top 7 or so in the world.
