Pretty bummed that the US bookends cost the US a shot at the team title, BUT I must say - watching Amouzad close out MFS at 65 KG?  It's always a damned pleasure to watch him wrestle.  I don't know how he lost last year and I don't know how he 'only' took 5th the year prior.  When he is on, he is unbeatable.

Now get him on a treadmill to train cardio!

Yes, though Mamedov has his number so far. He didn't seem particularly on this tournament compared to the Olympics, but beat Kiyooka easily. I wonder what happens if they wrestle 10 times. Seems both guys went into a huge hole in 1 exchange in both matches and then it got out of hand. I also wonder how long Amouzad can even stay at 65. 2028 seems to be a stretch.

can you summarize? I bet he misses the cultural food.

He says Arash is Iran’s son

he then says he has 6 kids, 5 sons and a daughter

i think he was trying to have enough sons for an Olympics team 😀

I remember hearing from some of you guys that he was probably not long for 65 KG after he beat Johnny D in 2022.  So I kind of expected him to work his way up to 74 KG then, but then we had the 2024 Olympics... BUT after his 5th in 2023, I was thinking "There might be a chance."

I would like to see him go the Yazdani route (when he went 74 KG to 86 KG), and just go 74 KG if he is going to go, without stopping at 70 KG, myself.  That said, one year at 70 KG might not be the end of the world for him.

No. The last exchange was never going to be a step out

I feel like he gasses more now. If he had that same match from 2022 with Yianni today it may tire him out

Can you translate what he is saying?  Thanks

I cannot figure out every word he says.  He is angrily scolding him and asks him why he did something, and then walks away .

He also looks huge for 65.  His shoulders are now a lot broader than they used to be

How does he look standing next to Lil Yaz?

Good question.  I would love to know.  I wish UWWDOC would join us again.

regardless, I would expect Rahman to demolish him.

Amouzad just won 65kg final comfortably. He won silver at 65 at the Olympic and another gold 2 years previously. They say 65 is one of the toughest in terms of parity. I would say if you win 2 gold in 4 year and an Olympic silver  so medalling 3 out of 4 years then you are doing something right. I wonder who has done some something to match him- Otoguro? Kiyooka? Mamedov?

I think with that track record he would want to stay at the weight as long as he can

So in years past we did not have 65

but Movahed won 1 Olympic gold and 5 world gold in 68 and 70

This is his twin losing to Yazdani. Of course, his twin is a far inferior wrestler. They seem to be about the same height.

Probably the last one to match him is Ramanov, who went gold 2014 - bronze 2015 - gold 2016 and then got injured and disappeared.

Rahman amouzad is still young. He can make the weight easy . 2 time world champ and Olympic silver in 4 years.

He should stay at 65 kg

Let’s hope that does not happen to Amouzad then. Will be a loss to wrestling I would have thought

How?

He could/should have been hit with a C+1 when he scooted out of bounds when Snyder had him in the "rear standing" position.

And Snyder's foot was never completely out of bounds at the end there. They showed that pretty clearly during the broadcast.

I was just asking.

i missed the final but I saw Iranian complaining on Instagram about 1 point awarded for Snyder before the last pushout point.
