Conference-independent NCAA At-Large Bids

This is a simple question based on my previous post about Notre Dame’s now defunct wrestling program. In football, Notre Dame is competes conference-independent at the Division I FBS level, but play in the ACC in most sports and as an affiliate member of the Big Ten in men’s ice hockey. While they no longer have a wrestling program, if they did, could they be conference-independent? Do at-large bids exist for programs without a conference or do all programs have one for wrestling?

All programs have a conference for wrestling

Morgan State did not last season and they would have needed individuals to qualify via the at-large process.

Does Morgan State plan on joining a conference or remaining independent?

Is Morgan State the only Independant School?

If so, can they crown themselves National Champions of Independant Schools?
