Yianni seemed pretty upset and said something to Van Ness right after they shook hands. I don’t know what he said, but guessing it had something to do with how close the match was.

Last year after his semi win over Sasso he was pretty upset at how close the match was and said so in his interview right after coming off the mat.

He seems to have such big expectations of himself that winning a close match in the semis is not good enough.

I think very few guys are able to truly have that mentality.

I didn't see anything chippy going on between Yianni and SVN after the match. Quint thought Yianni looked upset too but it turned out he was joking around with his coaches and saying "this is what it looks like to have some nuts" or something like that.

I think Yianni is a true perfectionist. He takes wrestling as an art form IMO and I think if he doesn’t wrestle the perfect match it truly bothers him and he dwells on it.

Rewatch the 1st period. Van Ness goes for Yianni's eyes with his thumb several times. Yianni indicated to the ref but didn't get a reaction. Van Ness kept doing it and Yianni was visible mad, swiping SVN's arm away forcefully after one of the pokes

I really doubt that was intentional, give Yianni’s post after the match:

I don't want to think it was intentional, but it happened multiple times in the 1st period.

Credit to SVN, I didn't see him do that after the 1st period nor in any of his other matches this season so I don't want to insinuate that he's a dirty wrestler. I enjoy watching him scrap
