    yeah that was at the trials, he would have been at a new level at the olympics, and Dake would have helped too. If it can be said for Taylor I don't know why not yianni.

    This is accurate. I don't think you could point out a person who maintained "the spark" longer while also attending to the rest of his life (family, business etc.) appropriately. Keep in mind it took him 5 YEARS to make a team.

    he didn't win a match at the OTT with the advantage of sitting out. What should brooks have had to do to earn the spot? Anyone who claims to think this should have spoken before the tournament or shut up.

    I'm saying that poor rule sets exacerbate the problems within the culture of referees. So while what you are saying is true, I think it is reductionist.

    I didn't agree with everything in this post, but I edited it down to three ideas that the wrestling community is refusing to confront at its detriment. And I think this is one of the stronger posts I've read on here btw

    I love fakestyle, I don't like the pseudo science refs invent to compensate themselves for having a difficult and thankless job, and in freestyle that is way more prevalent.

    As far as who gets called, i've had a half dozen refs explain to me that they are smart because they put the wrong guy on first, so they can put the right guy on second and the right guy will be winning on criteria. this is why people hate refs.

    Well the NLWC knows how to get guys on the team but I guess we know they aren't delivering where it counts! Compared to Lee who obviously had solid game plans the whole tournament its night and day! And then with the years they spent guiding lee through his injuries, its probably the coaching performance of the decade!

    There are guys like Lee who you wonder how they are doing what they are doing, and then later you hear someone say its cause they're freakishly strong, but Amoudzad is doing things were you can literally see the power throughout the match. He made Zain look like a child a few times, which i didn't think was possible, and then just rag dolled Musaskeav, that was nuts.

    I don't recall, but I don't recall Amouzad gassing either. Just doesn't seem like a real "advantage" nick lee lost to him but gassed him out so bad he lost to musakeav

    He obviously takes his job seriously as opposed to promoting himself. Certain other wrestling media people try to insert themselves with inauthentic mannerisms, inflection, and opinions. JB, aware of his subordination to the sport itself, doesn't mess with any of that.

    He might not be ready to coach, that might be enough to keep him wrestling.
