my perspective is that Caliendo was determined not to get teched (to his tremendous credit by the way, everyone else has quit by then), so he wrestled hard for a reversal and ended up on his belly locked on a leg, at which point he was hit for stalling. I could see how wrestling not to get teched is stalling 99% of the time, but he was doing it in an active way. Also I don't know why he was expected to either let go, or finish the reversal from insanely bad position. In my opinion the ref saw was he was trying to do (keep in mind it is not a refs job to read minds, nor make calls based on the scoreboard), and wanted everyone to know he knew so he hit him for stalling to seem clever.
