yeah why? i know there are conference hoops to work around but obviously we have to get PSU iowa every year, you'd think they could work it out. Iowa tOSU is a more compelling dual than Iowa PSU at this point, cause Iowa has no shot, and historically get matches they won in the conference and duals turned on them anyway, so who cares?

Maybe he just wants freestyle matches? Just seems a little odd sense these days at that level you just check the qualified box and go back the basement. is there some tactical reason? seeding? eating up a qualifying spot for someone else?

john smith is my favorite because he's the only coach who doesn't seem to take any responsibility for his athletes bad performances. That sounds like an insult but I really just mean that its hilarious how grossed out he seems sometimes. example is I remember him doing a rundown and saying something like "165 terrible performance, 174...no performance at all" I'm sure he does take appropriate responsibility by the way, anyway if cael spoke as frankly it would be amazing.

i'd say thats a distinction without a difference. there are always going to be hard calls for refs, botched escape calls are now less important.

I'd say a takedown is worth more than a reversal because TDs to some extent are initated by the scorer every time. IMHO reversals are predicated on the top guy making a mistake, because he could always just let the bottom guy go. My take on Carr/Ramirez is that after he got the TD ramirez went into a very aggressive crab ride (i'm not claiming he wanted to it was more of a situational imperative), and got reversed. I don't think he should be punished for that aggression to a degree to which it negates the TD he earned.

This drives me nuts, and I've mentioned it to ncaa refs we'd all recognize and they look at me like a cow looks at an oncoming train. You're deep on a leg attack, I grab a foot and start twisting it against the knee for no reason, the ref just stops it. why is this not a penalty point?

i never thought he looked big but you get the idea that he needs a change. He came out getting david taylor comparisons and just doesn't seem to have closed any ground with the tough guys at that weight since.
