  1. Jesse Mendez has been the best Ohio State wrestler since Kyle Snyder and is such an important piece to the Buckeye program. Dylan D'Emilio had the tournament of his life Saturday and is a guy who I believe got the most out of his career at Ohio State. Even Cannon who was seeded high had a great season and being a blood round guy was more than anyone expected going into the year. But going 0-4 in the blood round really stings. Bouzakis has shown so many flashes of greatness but has still not been able to put it together. Feldman is very injured but it's obvious this season was a pretty big disappointment. Kharchla had constant regression throughout his career and ending 0-2 was so disappointing. Paddy has regressed hard since high school. Rogotzke has showed no improvement. McCrone is a big one trick pony at 125. Recruits like Davino, Shaw and Waters are intriguing but a lot of the guys I named before were bigger recruits and haven't panned out whatsoever. Shumate had a great tourney but a lot of that was because of how the bracket fell. I am really confused on the direction of the current program and seeing Nebraska and Oklahoma State having such great tournaments made me realize very few Buckeyes are getting the most out of themselves. Is the issue Tom Ryan? Is it the coaching staff? Blaze committing to Penn State hurt but it looks like he made the right decision in hindsight. I am hoping for a better direction for this program next season.
  2. Bouzakis I think just hasn't meshed the best in Columbus even though he loves being there. I think there is a chance he stays despite all rumors. It's a mental thing with Paddy though and honestly with Feldman this season too to a lesser extent. Paddy's confidence has been really shot his entire college career and the injuries don't help. I think Paddy finding a new home would be great for both parties but I know Paddy is from Northeast Ohio and wants to be a Buckeye. I think Paddy needs to let it fly more and I think Nic needs to wrestle smarter.
  3. I thinkm this was a joke
  4. 125: McCrone probably 133: Davino/Bouzakis 141: Mendez/Davino/Bouzakis 149: Mendez/Cannon 157: Cannon/Shaw/Paddy/Birden 165: Paddy/Birden/Shaw 174: ??? 184: Rocco 197: Shumate/Rogotzke/Geog HWT: I could see Feldman taking a medical, Neves is good, maybe Swenski.
  5. With the arrival of Masanosuke Ono to Penn State do the defections begin? Facundo already in the portal. Sealey rumored to be gone. Another monster has entered the Penn State lineup and their is now proof bench guys such as TB can AA, will others join suit? Also will the improvements that the Okie coaching staff made with Hendrickson and Hamiti make that the obvious landing spot?
  6. Talking as if you're not Spencer Lee
  7. This morning I got a picture of Matt Ramos pinning Spencer Lee pop up on my phone saying 2 years ago today. After remembering this I rewatched the clip and it still is the most electrifying moment in the history of collegiate wrestling in my opinion. Also, part of me feels like so much has happened with both Matt Ramos and Spencer Lee since. Spencer has taken the freestyle world by storm when many didn’t think that was possible and looks like he could be the next face of USA wrestling. Matt Ramos failed to AA last year and has had a spectacular season this year but after the Lilledahl match some are concerned that he can be a national champion. But bothing will change that result that night.
  8. Second favorite teams, what are we four years old? On a real note though I’ve always been a David Taylor fan but never supported PSU but I’ll say Okie State. Used to be a fan of ASU but it’s hard to root for that with their current status.
  9. Do you guys think when there are SO many upsets, that tournaments just didn’t go the way they were supposed to go? The best wasn’t the best…
  10. It's been a while since he's been healthy while competing. Does anyone know his plans for this year as well as the next quad? If not does anyone have any thoughts on his future outlook in general. One of the most gifted wrestlers I've seen.
  11. Expensive...wow
  12. It's felt like for a couple years now, all of the tippy top prospects have committed to Penn State even up until very very recently. The wrestling community should be more appreciative of kids choosing schools without the chatter of "Oh BuT tHaT WoN't StOp PeNn StAtE."
  13. Duke, Blaze & Lilledahl or Dee, Jax & Dreshaun?
  14. The adopted one is the far better one
  15. As a Buckeye fan I've been relativley disappointed with how the recruits have panned out as of recent minus the obvious ones but I think that the team is still young and next year will be the time to really perfrom. They have a good squad and they don't need to recruit super hard right now. Marcus Blaze was a tough loss but I thought if Blaze would have been going to tOSU he would've committed far far sooner. I think there is a chance Davino is the guy over Bouzakis and Bouzakis may bounce but I also think Davino is better. Feldman's confidence being shot is very worrying but I don't know if that's a product of coaching or a product of his own thoughts. Everyone put a full court press on Bassett but Ohio State is not the wrestling brand that the other three are and that is clearly what he cares about. I hink Tom Ryan has been excellent in his tenure as the Buckeyes coach for 15+, similar level coaches and programs have had far far worse lows.
  16. Bo Bassett feels like one of the Hawkeyes last chances to rejuvinate their program in the Brands regime. I don't think Bassett is quite the wrestler Spencer was coming out but I believe he makes up for that in how big his brand is already and they very very clear attraction he will give to other recruits. Iowa has become the New York Yankees or Los Angeles Lakers in recent years where they are competitive but it has become clear that the fanbase expectation is to win championships and I think that window may already be closed now but the key may be locked and thrown in the trash if they can't land the new face of the program. That being said if they do land Bo it is more important than ever to build a team around him. They were able to build a championship team around Spencer (probably should've been 2 titles) they will need to pull it off again. And if they don't get Bassett, what direction does the Hawkeye program move to?
  17. If you’re talking about 2023 trials he had the bye to the finals of an Olympic weight of course he’s not going to give that up.
  18. That was also 3 years ago at an Olympic weight. He could also very likely go back down and it would be an easier cut without dealing with the concussion.
  19. I hear that and would agree but it sounds like Yianni had a ROUGH cut going down and I don’t think those guys are going to be at the 70 KG trials considering they’ll be at 141 in the college season.
  20. What if the world just transitioned to folkstyle
