  1. Talking as if you're not Spencer Lee
  2. This morning I got a picture of Matt Ramos pinning Spencer Lee pop up on my phone saying 2 years ago today. After remembering this I rewatched the clip and it still is the most electrifying moment in the history of collegiate wrestling in my opinion. Also, part of me feels like so much has happened with both Matt Ramos and Spencer Lee since. Spencer has taken the freestyle world by storm when many didn’t think that was possible and looks like he could be the next face of USA wrestling. Matt Ramos failed to AA last year and has had a spectacular season this year but after the Lilledahl match some are concerned that he can be a national champion. But bothing will change that result that night.
  3. Second favorite teams, what are we four years old? On a real note though I’ve always been a David Taylor fan but never supported PSU but I’ll say Okie State. Used to be a fan of ASU but it’s hard to root for that with their current status.
  4. Do you guys think when there are SO many upsets, that tournaments just didn’t go the way they were supposed to go? The best wasn’t the best…
  5. It's been a while since he's been healthy while competing. Does anyone know his plans for this year as well as the next quad? If not does anyone have any thoughts on his future outlook in general. One of the most gifted wrestlers I've seen.
  6. Expensive...wow
  7. It's felt like for a couple years now, all of the tippy top prospects have committed to Penn State even up until very very recently. The wrestling community should be more appreciative of kids choosing schools without the chatter of "Oh BuT tHaT WoN't StOp PeNn StAtE."
  8. Duke, Blaze & Lilledahl or Dee, Jax & Dreshaun?
  9. The adopted one is the far better one
  10. As a Buckeye fan I've been relativley disappointed with how the recruits have panned out as of recent minus the obvious ones but I think that the team is still young and next year will be the time to really perfrom. They have a good squad and they don't need to recruit super hard right now. Marcus Blaze was a tough loss but I thought if Blaze would have been going to tOSU he would've committed far far sooner. I think there is a chance Davino is the guy over Bouzakis and Bouzakis may bounce but I also think Davino is better. Feldman's confidence being shot is very worrying but I don't know if that's a product of coaching or a product of his own thoughts. Everyone put a full court press on Bassett but Ohio State is not the wrestling brand that the other three are and that is clearly what he cares about. I hink Tom Ryan has been excellent in his tenure as the Buckeyes coach for 15+, similar level coaches and programs have had far far worse lows.
  11. Bo Bassett feels like one of the Hawkeyes last chances to rejuvinate their program in the Brands regime. I don't think Bassett is quite the wrestler Spencer was coming out but I believe he makes up for that in how big his brand is already and they very very clear attraction he will give to other recruits. Iowa has become the New York Yankees or Los Angeles Lakers in recent years where they are competitive but it has become clear that the fanbase expectation is to win championships and I think that window may already be closed now but the key may be locked and thrown in the trash if they can't land the new face of the program. That being said if they do land Bo it is more important than ever to build a team around him. They were able to build a championship team around Spencer (probably should've been 2 titles) they will need to pull it off again. And if they don't get Bassett, what direction does the Hawkeye program move to?
  12. If you’re talking about 2023 trials he had the bye to the finals of an Olympic weight of course he’s not going to give that up.
  13. That was also 3 years ago at an Olympic weight. He could also very likely go back down and it would be an easier cut without dealing with the concussion.
  14. I hear that and would agree but it sounds like Yianni had a ROUGH cut going down and I don’t think those guys are going to be at the 70 KG trials considering they’ll be at 141 in the college season.
  15. What if the world just transitioned to folkstyle
  16. I think there’s also a very good chance all these guys will medal!
  17. If I had to pick the US reps today based purely off of guesswork I’d go 61: Vito 70: Yianni 79: Nolf 92: Zahid
  18. 61: Frontrunner: Vito Contenders: Daton, Nashon, Gross, DeSanto (will he go?) Darkhorse: Marcus Blaze 70: Contenders: James Green, Alec Pantaleo, Yianni (sounds like he’s going), probably more guys I can’t think of but this feels like a hard weight to pick without Zain in the field. 79: Frontrunner: Marsteller (Will he go?) Contenders: Nolf?, Burroughs?, Starocci? O’Toole? Ringer? This weight feels difficult to pick when we don’t have a good feel at all for what most of these guys will do 92: Frontrunner: Zahid Valencia Contenders: Mike Macch, Hidlay potentially, probably more than this
  19. Cuz it's Purdue
  20. Didn't he wrestle Snyder not too long ago?
  21. I think I would go: 61 KG: Vito (Maybe we see Gilman... but even still Vito if healthy plows through 61 again) 70 KG: Pantaleo (Could change if people like Nick Lee and Yianni are in the field) (Full size new hip James Green could be dangerous) 79 KG: Nolf (Carter and Marsteller will also be tough matchups here and if Ringer can make the weight again he looked the best he has in a while) (Also will JB show up?!?!) 92 KG: Valencia (Could change depending on if DT shows up, but Zahid is clearly the number 3 at 86 and he mowed through 92 trials last year)
