  1. Jay Bilas was talking about this (albeit on the basketball front) the other day. Until the athletes are considered employees by the school, there really isn't anything that can be done. The current laws that are on the books don't allow anyone to tell a student where they can go to school or how they can monetize their likeness. That applies to receiving money while not using their likeness. All of the other conversations about how we "wish things were" are silly.
  2. Both of you can go somewhere else with that political talk. This thread should not get sidetracked by two guys spouting economic theory.
  3. Everyone has the ability to raise as much money as they want. How is this not fair? The fact that some schools have rich donors that wish to spend their money on securing athletes at their favorite school is the epitome of capitalism. In our system of economics there will be winners and losers. Having a rich family doesn't change that. Stop complaining and get to fundraising.
  4. I'm also seeing a lot of right wingers complaining about "fair" and there not being enough "parity." Folks, that is the E in DEI. If you want a merit based society, quit complaining about fair. This is capitalism. There will always be winners and losers. Salary caps are just socialism and DEI.
  5. Every time that any of this has ended up in court, the result has been the same. If these are students, then there is no legal way to stop them from making money or to stop them from attending whatever school they want. The only way that they could implement any changes would be to make them employees of the universities.
  6. And I thought i hated Iowa before. Isn't there someone at Arizona State they like?
  7. Rules are rules. It's not like these rules were implemented the day before the tournament. The entire season was contested under a set of rules and then the conference tournament was contested under another set of rules. What other rules should we throw out because it is a national qualifying tournament?
  8. This is America. You are worth what the market says you are worth. It’s really jarring to see self proclaimed libertarians say anything else. The market decides value, plain and simple.
  9. Also, Madison is a pretty nice place to go to college. Consistently ranked a top 10 college town in America.
  10. You’d have to think vegas would be pretty nice. Lots of flights and cheap hotels
  11. Matecki is a nice prospect from Missouri and a prospect on the mma side already.
  12. I did some announcing in Wichita this year and Jason Bryant and myself did some reminiscing about the old Missouriwrestling.com days. We definitely had some fun on that site.
