  1. He was involved in at least 3 other vehicle thefts and the dad did not think he deserved to go to prison? It never should have gotten to this point. Why was he running the streets after the prior vehicle issues? Our judicial system really pisses me off most of the time. Criminals need to be held accountable for their actions.
  2. Wrestlers now have to weigh-in wearing their singlets.
  3. There is no chance of this dual happening. I wish it would, but if Cael will not go to the duals that Taylor is setting up, he is not going to dual him anywhere else. We can all wish though.
  4. Wow, everyone is talking about how Barr needs to put on muscle, but as soon as he does; people are going to explode and say that he is on the roids or taking PED's! He will definitely be staying at 197 though. Why bring in Welsh just to have Barr drop down to 184?
  5. This may be a little off topic and doesn't get into the argument on should boys switch to Free Style in High School. It is more about why I do not think states should or will switch to Free Style I do not like the idea of what NY is doing with their HS girls. I think it will have a very hard time promoting the sport and keeping it relative to what the boys will get and be able to do. Are they going to have separate tournaments? Trying to run a freestyle girls tournament and a Folk Style boys tournament would be a nightmare. Two different sets of officials among other things. Girls wrestling is exploding all over the Country, but I think this will take a step backwards for their state. Not bashing girls wrestling at all, but if you were to hold a girls tournament at the same time as a boys tournament in two different locations (which is about the only way that I could see them accomplishing two styles), who is going to have the bigger crowd and fan base. By keeping the girls the same as the guys, more people are at the tournaments and more people pay attention to the girls and see what they are able to accomplish. Like I said, I'm not bashing girls wrestling at all. In fact 10 years ago, I did not want to be near it, but now that the sport has grown and I see the accomplishments and hard work that the girls put in, I appreciate the sport and support it.
  6. This is a very touchy subject and only fed by accusations. Shapiro saying what he said, did come across to me as him accusing Kasak and being a little salty, but he did not go overboard about it. The steroid accusations about Kasak that are flying around I think are a generalization, but I also think they are horrible. I'm a High School teacher and coach and I see students with horrible acne quite often and most of them are not even athletes. My own daughter who is a freshman wrestler in college has horrible acne right now and she is definitely not taking steroids. Sometimes it is just unfortunate that these young kids get it and personally I hate reading about it.
  7. This entire thing is a complete mess and it will always be talked about. I don't have much of an opinion on it, but I do believe that rules are rules and something obviously happened. Be where you are suppose to be, be doing what you are suppose to be doing, be doing it when you are suppose to be doing it. I did talk to Jamison's dad and he said that his son was very lucky and thankful that he was able to wrestle. His story, and I have known Jame for a long time was that Tagen went through skin checks and went back over and was setting on the bike waiting for weigh-ins to begin. He said that he went and was talking to some guys as he was waiting, but he should not have left the weigh-in line. He also said it was a stupid move that could have easily cost Tagen his season.
  8. What was said and done was wrong, but Tom Ryan is not losing his job over this. She he apologize, I definitely think he should. In the heat of battle, (which does not excuse it) coaches are going to say things and this definitely was one of those bad situations.
  9. What a sad situation and I hate this for Sammy. Those punks that shot him, took away so much from this great young man. Good luck with your future and I hope it still involves the sport of wrestling.
  10. Most programs are dry during the season. I know we had the cut off date of November 1st. We always hosted a huge Halloween party and then we were done. Of course you would have some guys that would party occasionally, but the starters would stay true to it and we definitely did not put up with others partying during the season if we found out about it. If programs are able to hold their athletes to it and the athletes want to be in a program ran with those rules, more power to them. Personally I enjoyed being able to enjoy college life during the little bit of time that we had off the mat. Wrestling is such a grind and it was a good break during that time to be able to be a college student.
  11. There's 3 TX state champs in the 133lb bracket and two of them are from Allen this weekend.
  12. I would love to see DT there, but I think people are dreaming.
  13. Like said above, I think most of the Iowa wrestlers do like Tom and Terry. As far as the mat side antics, Gable had quite a few of those himself. Wrestling against the Hawks and being mat side, we would always be entertained by the Iowa bench. With that being said, we all loved it and respected the program and the man in charge. Just during competition we would use it to our advantage to fire ourselves up.
  14. I miss read the article. The Cuban should definitely be in the semi's then.
  15. Not receiving a medal is part of it. I feel bad for her, because it has to be crushing, but one of the first requirements is that you have to make weight. I feel worse for 2 other people in her weight. 1. Sarah now does not get to have a true Olympic gold medal match. People are always going to bring that up and that is not her fault. 2. I might even feel worse for the Japanese wrestler who lost in the semi's, but now does not get a chance to move on to the finals. It doesn't make sense to me that they would not advance her instead of advancing the Cuba.
