  1. I agree- I’m also sure Alex Ferguson agrees with you on that and he had the results and the authority to back it up…
  2. Of course no one was giving Azarpira a chance to beat Tazhudinov. So that was great outcome for Iran. I would have thought even if the coaches jobs were on the line( which they were not) securing the world title with 8 medals and the icing on the cake of Azapira winning today against a guy who everyone without exception a day ago was saying to be unbeatable has neutralised effectively any talk of coaching changes.
  3. What’s the relationship between Reza Yazdani and Dabir like?
  4. Well Azarpira V Snyder still worth the wait..
  5. He could still be formidable at 86 in time
  6. All good thanks - I’m delighted he came through for you …
  7. In a way it’s a shame. He has a suitcase full of world medals with a chance to add to it this year perhaps with a big opportunity to secure the team title for team USA but all eclipsed by an indiscretion. I’m sure his achievements will last longer than his mistakes though ( I mean no one remembers Hugh Grants one).
  8. Yes- quite hard to resist. You never know when the opportunity may arise again….
  9. The former would have more gratification
  10. I think at the moment there is 5 points in it only- so feels like gonna be close
  11. Looks like the team title could be riding on how Kyle Snyder performs tomorrow
  12. Some unexpected supporters
  13. It’s a shame in this conversation we can not mention too many recently emerging juniors. My feeling is Amouzad best results will come at 65 so best remain there as long as he is able to. I see no problem with Ghassempour remaining at 86 if he can - I mean he has a good chance for meddling at 86 even with Kadiev and Valencia there vs DNP in 97. I think Nokhodi frame is too small for 86 . A bit like savadkohi- a bit telling that for Paris 2024 he remained at 79 but granted Yazdani was there at the time. I think next 70 or 74 guys could be Sina Khalili and Ebrahimzadeh. Ahora Khateri could grow to a decent 65 or even70. A dark horse is Yasin Rezaei at 65. He seems very talented technically but his games is full of holes and flaws. If there was a coach to fix these he could have potential but I’m not sure if there is such a coach in Iran or even he is not too old for it…
  14. I don’t think it will be possible for Nokhodi to go 74 and for firouzpor to 86 without a killer drop in performance. If my memory is right they were competing at these lower weights going back to being juniors and about 18 yr old.
  15. I wonder if Nokhodi will want to move up to 86…
  16. For first day -2 in the finals and Ghassempour realistically should get a bronze so we are about on par with the best we could have hoped for.
  17. Javan is in the finals. Ghassempour is not . This was not how it was supposed to pan out
  18. The Iranian team in u23 in 2023 did not get visas so no Massumi. Also that year if my memory is right there was no Russian team either. I was surprised a month or so folks were billing him as the next number 2 at 125-Perhaps there was some sort of agenda at play?
  19. Actually Javan seems to have a decent draw
  20. I agree Emami has a chance for a Bronze on rare occasions. For Javan I guess its a chance to try justify being there but there is stiff competition
  21. Are we expecting anything from Younes Emami and Ahmad Javan?
  22. I was also paraphrasing too- I got the same impression as you did that he was saying he was urged to go to 86. Regardless it’s odd to say it in the federation organised interview which was subsequently posted by them too. I would have thought he would have been way too measured to come up with that at this 11 hour - so me thinking this was part of an arranged strategic move. But may be he was just being honest and I’m too cynical
  23. The reason I’m a bit doubtful about the interview that he said he does not like cutting weight and he did it because he was encouraged by the coaches is that it’s published on the official Iranian federation official instagram account. Seems to go against the grain for him to candidly say it there and then for the federation to sanction it and post it with their official blessing.
  24. All smoke and mirrors you say?
  25. With regard’s Ghassempour weight- Babak had a live chat on instagram a couple of days ago and the word is that Ghassempour is comfortably close to 86 and no real issues. I suspect some of the comments Ghassempour himself made could be misdirection.
