  1. As much as I would like to blame the NCAA - at some point its up to the different sports to think of a way to be financially independent or else die on the vine
  2. Any updates on his situation? I couldn't help but think of him being absent this past weekend
  3. Your list makes me think of a good idea: who are the best transfers at each weight who went from a bigger program to a smaller one. From your list alone you have Noto from NC State to Lock Haven and Quinn Kinner from Ohio State to Rider. Going back in time of course you have Kolat and Marstellar. Evan Wick from Wisconsin to Cal Poly. Who else am I missing
  4. dude are you talking about this board: https://virginiatech.sportswar.com/message_board/vtwrestling/66034ef8a595e40014b7a3b4 I can't find which guys are being mentioned. Any idea who?
  5. transfer portal by weight so far: 125: Evan Tallmadge 133: Connor McGonagle 141: Peyton Moore 149: Sammy Alvarez 157: Jason Kraisser 165: Dean Hamiti 174: nhs67 184: James Lledo 197: MPhillips 285: PJ Casale
  6. Between Dean Hamiti and Connor McGonagle, so far we have two guys from the all star matches hitting the portal.
  7. Where are you seeing these names?
  8. Jason Kraisser, Iowa State has entered the portal
  9. If he does, he'll be closer to 141 than 157. The amount of muscle loss when you go through that sort of lack of mobility is extreme. In high school, I came back from a life threatening car crash and being in a wheel chair - mid season and qualified the weight. by the end of the season as I put muscle back on - it was extremely difficult. the weight class was 112 and by conferences they gave us two lbs so it was 114. The night I won conferences and went back home hydrated, and ate a simple meal - I was 130. I nearly killed myself getting back down to 114 for states
  10. He is a full fledged 97 kg guy so the 197 is a tough cut but doable.
  11. I thought I heard that somewhere too, but it doesn't make much sense to me for various reasons. 1) He doesn't have a lot of length to support that sort of bulk up 2) They don't have a 133 lber otherwise and they do have several 141s
  12. Do you envision Will Baysingar ever hitting the starting lineup? Also I thought Ruzic at 125 is a high enough caliber guy that there was an expectation he may start as a true freshman
  13. Evan Tallmadge - Freshman from Navy enters the portal. He beat Colton Camacho from Pitt pretty handily but then got injured before Christmas and never came back from it. I'm curious if his Naval Academy credits easily transfer elsewhere and whether or not he owes any money or service to the academy in exchange for his one year.
  14. Hamiti still has his apendix, both kidneys, a full head of hair, and all of his toes. I think a good surgeon could get him down to 157
  15. Thanks for your notes. Redding's hometown is 45 minutes from LIU campus
  16. Can Mantanona make 157?
  17. Good call
  18. he's been in college for five years - all at Campbell. one was a redshirt and one was a free Covid year. So he has one year remaining. leaving now for a top program like Missouri would be similar to what Olejnik did for his final year at Oklahoma State.
  19. Other than those already announced like McGonagle and the Columbia and Cornell guys, I'm going to predict other portal entrants by weight class and where I think they'll go. 125: Eddie Ventresca from Virginia Tech to Oklahoma 133: Kyle Burwick from Nebraska to North Dakota State 141: Frankie Tal-Shahar from Northwestern to Iowa 149: Zach Redding from Iowa State to Long Island University 157: Clayton Ulrey from Virginia Tech to Rutgers 165: Patrick Kennedy from Iowa to Pittsburgh 174: Alex Facundo from Penn State to Oklahoma State 184: Seth Shumate from Ohio State to Maryland 197: Andy Smith from Virginia Tech to Iowa State 285: Taye Ghadiali from Campbell to Missouri
  20. Plus McKee, DeAugustino, Kaylor, Latona, Abas, Lewan Amine, and a few others
  21. I'll see you there next year man. Philadelphia 2025 - Saturday night is my 40th birthday. I've already convinced a few others to join me (guys who have very limited understanding of wrestling, but love sports in general and drinking)
  22. Good point - I wondered if Rocky would go heavy. He's a very large 197 to begin with
  23. 125: Vinny Kilkeary / Brendan McCrone 133: Nik Bouzakis / Ben Davino RS 141: Jesse Mendez / Brandon Cannon 149: Dylan D'Emilio / Ethen Birden RS 157: Paddy Gallagher / Isaac Wilcox 165: Bryce Hepner 174: Rocco Welsh 184: Ryder Rogotzke / Seth Shumate 197: Luke Geog 285: Nick Feldman
  24. 125: Luke Lilledahl 133: Aaron Nagao / Braeden Davis RS 141: Beau Bartlett / Tyler Kasak RS 149: Shayne Van Ness 157: Levi Haines 165: Mitchell Mesenbrink / Joe Sealey RS 174: Carter Starocci / Alex Facundo / Zach Ryder RS 184: Josh Barr 197: Connor Mirasola 285: Greg Kerklivet / Cole Mirasola RS
