Who is returning from redshirt?
Hoyt Matthews replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
He just made 134 flat two days in a row so has to be closer to 33 than 41 but 33 could be a pull during B10 dual season. But I agree he’s big for 33 for sure. VanDee or Hardy pick your poison I guess. Nebraska also has incoming Frosh Hockaday who is really really good listed at 33 on their roster as well who will RS. -

Agree and makes sense. Ayoub just won bronze at U20, should be a good battle and a good battle of styles too. Either way with stuff like this you wonder if a guy portals after one way or another. -
They look similar for sure in terms of body style etc. I only watched his final and he about died in the final from exhaustion. Hit some outside step for sure as well which Dean has in his bag of tricks. I sent this to Dean, I will see what he says and let you know. THX!

2027 Big Boarders
Hoyt Matthews replied to Indiana-Hawk-Wrestling-Fan's topic in High School Wrestling
The visits in the state of Iowa have been picking up with Dhabolt, Youngblutt, the lightweight (cant remember name off hand), and Schwab all getting some visits from the Iowa Schools UNI, ISU, and Iowa. The state of Iowa has a really good class for 2027. Also saw Hayden S visiting Cornell here soon. Be interesting to see where all of these kids land. Really good coverage on IAWrestle on rokfin, shout out to Ross Bartachek, he does a really good job with that site. -

Truzz- Ayoub is hard to get a hold of and really good with that open double from space after clearing the tie. He had a pretty good HS career. I think he is tall for 133 right? Could be problems for guys. -

Mizzou- I would get the Rokfin sub, really good content and a lot of it. Lots of intermat stuff on there and Willie's stuff is in there too. Also, IA Wrestle along with others really good too. Lots of info on states and recruiting. PNL is on there too, all around really good. I feel it is well worth the money, for sure. Would much rather spend on that than other streaming services. -

Mizzou- It is ok Rokfin, on intermat's rokfin page. Mizzou is on quite a few lists, which should not be a huge surprise as they do an awesome job. I wonder how these lists grow or shrink in the next month and a half. Gonna be busy visits season soon. Things should heat up!! -

Intermat has an updated list on schools for some of the Big Board guys, there are some updates to that list. Pretty good info for those following it closely. -

Not sure if I saw him in there but Ferrari from Iowa would obviously be a guy with huge immediate impact as well. -

Should see Kyler Larkin in at ASU as well. Would think he would be an immediate impact guy. He is coming off a greyshirt as well. Those two in the lineup will make ASU better right away. -

Mizzou- I think they may be doing theirs a little later. I think schools differ on visits etc in terms of when they do them. However, I am very interested to see how quickly verbals start to come due to roster cap situations. -

Husker- probably hard to do, but I only know because Dean went, so there is that piece of it. I am sure there were a lot more really good kids there as well. Nebraska does a great job and that camp is a really good prep for Fargo for any kid serious about placing high there. I am sure they are all over it on the recruiting trail. Hard to pin down everything that happens in the recruiting process for schools, but kids social medias give some insights as to what visits are happening etc. Dean mentioned two last night, said ISU visited Sonny Amato and Va Tech visited Clinton Shepherd, both legit hammers. -

Huskers20- I know that Youngblutt, Noah Bull, Hayden Schwab, Ben Ziola, Gage Lohr, Caden Woodall, and Dean Anderson were there from what Dean told me. Not sure past that. It was their FS camp they run during the summer. -

8/4 First official day of home visits....Should be a busy week. Interesting to see if anyone verbals or to soo what schools visited kids. Always lots of these posted on social media. Out west most schools are back in school, but think most Eastern/Midwest schools are not so wonder if that affects things. Either way good stuff. -

Truzz- Wohlbert is a monster with the chest wrap stuff, like he is elite there and so if you are going to beat him you are going to have to win those exchanges, which obviously Dean did not. They had a match at PNL 10-10 (KW won as well) but was goofy with one man mechanics and no review. KW was better at Fargo and had a hell of a tournament, hats off to him. We flew home Thursday and Dean was back in the room that night working out with the Larkin boys on his own accord. Wrestling is hard and he embraces everything that comes with it. Appreciate the kind words. Kinda goofy he placed at U20's but not Fargo but it is what is, wrestling is hard all the time....FWIW I think his best wrestling is still very much in front of him. -

Winners- Yeah my understanding is a little wonky for sure. However, I know there was some stuff in place that keeps some kids from competing for sure. I think it is in place to keep kids here competing for USA. I also think kids that represent other countries also cannot attend the OTC. IDK. I would bet Willie has some insight on it. -

Truzz- if we are talking Bachman and Fargo, the reason I think he was not there is because he wrestles for PR which I dont think would allow him to compete there. Kind of part of the rules that have come out with country transfers etc. I think if a kid represents another country they are not allowed to wrestle in Fargo. I am pretty sure this is the case now when an athlete transfers to represent another country. -

Who has come off the board (verballed) already? Villasenor- Okie State Tsarni- Air Force DeSalvo- Minnesota Am I missing anyone besides these guys? Also, when does Bassett make his decision? Heard maybe at Fargo but that has come and went, I imagine that may impact some kids on the 2027 list as well b/c he will obviously command a lot of resources from a school in terms of scholarship and NIL monies. Also, Bassett(s) and Miller still a package deal? I am guessing so, but did not know if anything had changed because Bo listed three schools and Melvin Miller had more on there but thinking they have not been updated since. Willie- would love to see those graphics again as kids start to narrow it down. We should see some of that soon as home visits start 8/4 when this dead period ends and visits will happen shortly after that as it seems the fall is a pretty busy time for those. -

Mizzou Fan- not sure Dean hung out with O'Toole or Sinclair at Fargo or took any pictures with them but that being said Mizzou has been contacting him and he has mostly talked with Maple. Mizzou has a good thing going for sure. No pictures or anything doesn't mean anything either way good or bad. -

Plus with all the dual events etc and NHSCA being so close to so many schools it is easier to see these kids and see them more often for sure. And, wrestling is just better as a rule on the East Coast/Midwest. -

I agree on prospect camps, but if its a good one and they want you there it opens tons of doors. I suppose for the East Coast it is less necessary bc things are so close in proximity. However, for kids in a place like AZ it could be the ticket for a lot of these guys. -

Hokie- I think every kid that is looking somewhere or wanting to go somewhere should try to do a prospect camp or go in and train at an RTC to some extent. It his a huge benefit for a kid and there are tons of opportunity out there to do so. It is way easier now than it has been before with all the opportunity I would say. -

Okie State is super packed in that area but seems like they are just loading up guys so who knows really...Hard to say, but I could see either Okie State or ASU happening and not be shocked.
