  1. So are you thinking Ysa and Vasquez at 141/149? Only thing that gives me pause about that, is Larkin is weighing in at 143 pounds this weekend.
  2. ASU had another kid not too long ago with some senior level success before entering the starting lineup… With Parco out they desperately need a pair of Transfers at 174/184 and 197.
  3. Only way this is net neutral from a point stand point, is if Kaleb Larkin is an AA from jump street, and they land Whiting from Missouri to wrestle 174/184.
  4. Not at all bullish on Manville either.
  5. If they go forward with the plan to bump Larkin/Teemer, it’ll probably be Ysa at 141 and Vasquez returning to 149. While it makes things functional from a dual standpoint, they’re still taking a real hit on team points.
  6. Gross. As a west coast fan it sucks to see another west coast grad go out in blaze of glory at Iowa.
  7. It’d be okay if it was a clean point swap of Larkin for Parco. In actuality, it’s going to be a point swap of Parco for McLane.
  8. Well. That sucks. ASU was set up to have a fantastic shot at a team trophy next year too.
  9. I hear you, but is Rogers anything more than a longer term stop gap? He was a blue chip recruit but wasn’t able to beat out Jaden Bullock. I’d rather see what Valencia can do at 184 and insert at proven short term solution in Bockman at 197. Reassess, and reenter the market next spring.
  10. Would make a ton of sense to bring in one. With Ludington coming in I feel like Bockman is a good stop gap. I’ve convinced myself that Valencia growing into 184 and establishing himself as a top 20 guy in the country is totally within the realm of possibility.
  11. I’m really hoping ASU can land someone legitimate at either 184 or 197. They always have a glaring hole in their otherwise solid lineup, and it kills them in higher level duals.
  12. In the portal as a 165. Georgia native, UNC makes some sense.
  13. Another sleeper in the portal is Charlie Darracott from Stanford. Was ranked in the top 16 at 157 at one point in ‘23 prior to Cardenas pulling the shirt.
  14. My take here - Davis, Noto, and Ayala all spent 2+ minutes on a knee throughout the early portion of their matches against Figs. They had little to no desire to create any type of offense, and it was clear their strategy was to bait Richie into an ill advised shot, which based on his tape, was probably a smart way to play it. What about that is any different from Figs playing the edge at the end of a match? It’s all the same thing, and I don’t know why everyone fails to see that.
  15. It was an absolutely terrible loss, but prior to an awful start to his collegiate career, Renteria was actually a 3x CA state champ and a top 15 recruit in the class of ‘21. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him start and have some success at OSU next year.
  16. I think this is much more likely than my lineup outside of Yas at 133 (Zeke will live and die with Chlebove). I just really want to keep Teemer away from Messenbrink. I still think he could steal a match from Haines.
  17. A man can dream haha. I assume McLane goes the weight Ruiz doesn’t. McLane was solid this year, if things worked out a little differently he was definitely worthy of an at large bid.
  18. I think they’ll be able to keep Ysa around for at least another year. Parco at 141 is a total reach, I was just trying to find a way to stick Larkin in there haha. My guess is Ysa and Vasquez battle it out for the 141 job.
  19. Arizona State (My ideal world) 125: Figueroa 133: Chlebove 141: Parco 149: Kaleb Larkin 157: Teemer 165: Ruiz 174: McLane 184: Valencia 197: Cardenas (Highly speculated) 285: Schultz
  20. Stanford: 125: Provo 133: Tyler Knox 141: Aden Valencia 149: Jaden Abas/Jack Consiglio 157: Dan Cardenas 165: Hunter Garvin 174: Lorenzo Norman 184: Tye Montiero/Jack Darrah 197: Jack Darrah/Nick Stemmet 285: Ming/Mankowski/Stemmet Ming, Stemmet, and Abas all walked on Senior night, but I expect to see at least one back.
  21. Last month Figs lost handily to Maximo Renteria, a backup at OSU who went 4-14 at Illinois last season. I don’t know many champs that took a loss like that in a season, let alone a month before the post season. What a turn around.
  22. Parco showed up to wrestle today. Putting him under Watters was Zeke and co’s worst call of the tournament.
  23. Didn’t pick Schultz to win, but I was dead wrong on how he’d perform this morning. His #SadBoy performance cost ASU a shot at a trophy.
  24. I’d love to see an Iowa rebrand. The Brands have had their time and it’s reached Zelesky territory. Iowa needs to hire outside the fold and bring in someone innovative.
  25. Can’t wait for the imminent Cinnabon thread about how PSU is in trouble because C Star, Bartlett, and Kerk aren’t coming back next year.
