  1. A 19year old Junior would not be eligible to compete their senior year in almost every state.
  2. By far the biggest NIL beneficiary has been a female gymnast. The second largest was a female basketball player.
  3. Or make stalling points 2, 2, 4, DQ. I hate the idea of officials deciding matches but stalling is a problem on top and in neutral. I think they also call it too often on bottom. I'd also like to see the ankle pass with the same 5 count as dropping to an ankle. I'm against a push out rule but could be talked into a step out rule where a wrestler who voluntarily steps out is hit with stalling.
  4. Bassett loses to Stanich - What can you expect, he's a HS Junior wrestling someone who has been in a college room for years. Bassett decommits from Iowa - He's almost ready for an AARP card.
  5. They should have had a bunch of titles stripped. Even today, ask schools like Arizona State how ethical Iowa is.
  6. The most ethical program that was founded by flat out cheating. Their entire history is based on documented and verified disregard for NCAA rules.
  7. Telling off a recruit's mother is never the right thing. Iowa fans are spinning the best case scenario but there's a lot going on. Bassett and company were part of a large contingent to train at HWC before Vegas. They were treated like red-headed stepchildren. You'd think you'd roll out the red carpet when you can legally talk to kids like Mario Hutcherson. One doesn't have to corner a wrestler to provide support, encouragement or even cheer from the sidelines and a kind word after a loss goes a long way.
  8. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that he's calling out the lifestyles of two of the potential three African-Americans on the roster. How many times has he been sued for racial discrimination in his rentals?
  9. Taylor was developing high level wrestlers at his club, M2. Haines skipped his senior year of high school to train at M2 for the year and ended up in the finals as a true freshman. Kasak did the same and placed 3rd. That's about as proven as you can get without being a current college coach.
  10. Teams all over Pennsylvania do what McCourt was punished for. McCourt was punished because Luke Sipes of Altoona, a North Carolina commit, was going to transfer to Bishop McCourt and Altoona threw a fit with District 6, threatening to make their fieldhouse unavailable. In that part of rural PA, almost every decent size event is held in Altoona as it's the only sizable gym in the region. The PIAA regularly uses Altoona facilities also so they have an immense amount of power for a school district. Altoona had the SW regional and NW regional on back to back weekends in the past. District 6 found a kid willing to testify that he was transferring to Bishop McCourt solely to wrestle. It wasn't a kid that could ever start so it wasn't like he was recruited. They banned McCourt for a couple of years from the state tournament. Faith Cristian, Bethlehem Catholic.. plenty of private schools openly recruit and even some of the public ones like Reynolds and Waynesburg.
  11. FACT - Bo Bassett idolized Spencer Lee. FACT -Bo Bassett spent more time with Spencer Lee. FACT -Bo Bassett decommited from Iowa. Iowa missed their chance to land Taylor and now there's just not a proven option for the next coach.
  12. I thought this was the college forum... Besides, he didn't lose a scramble, Duke hit a move that was scouted and practiced.
  13. Iowa fans citing how they follow compliance and everyone else is cheating is rich coming from a program whose entire history is build on Gable being a documented and punished cheat. Because Bishop McCourt is a private school, the Bassetts can list anywhere in the country as their "home" so the 250 mile RTC limit isn't an issue but it's probably not an issue anyway since the rules haven't been updated now that the Letter of Intent has gone away.
  14. Did Diakomahalis get pinned multiple times from scrambles? Did he lose a scramble and lose his chance to be a 4 time NCAA champ?
  15. All the three point takedown has done is give room for an extra stall call in the third period. A late first period takedown and ride out, an escape with no riding time and most wrestlers are on the bicycle in the third period. One can take three stall warnings without any concern.
  16. Did you watch the Olympic finals? Did you watch him vs Ono? You're right, he doesn't need a go to takedown he can rely on against the best in the world. When the entire program hasn't had any scrambling ability at all with the exception of a few bought wrestlers like Eierman, I can see why it looks like Lee was a good scrambler to an Iowa fan. The rest of us have watched actual good scrambling.
  17. Matt Ramos also had him on his list of best scramblers. Lee's scrambling technique was to not get in scrambles. His insane grip strength made traditional scrambling and funk a losing proposition for most so they either backed out of the scramble or bailed. Watch every match of his and count how many opponents tried ankle passes and the like.
  18. The Brands' philosophy of not practicing until you can get a move right but practicing so much you can't get it wrong is great for beating inferior opponents but is so easy for equal opponents to exploit. RBY hides an arm and Desanto looks like he's never wrestled before. Lee never developed a go to takedown or scrambling because he'd just tilt everyone into oblivion. Marinelli developed his upper body series but got beaten like a dog whenever someone refused to engage at NCAAs. Ayala's entire offense seems to consist of a throwby. The old tough guy approach of we don't need to adapt, others need to adapt to us just lead to wrestlers getting beaten when if counts after beating the same opponent earlier in the year. You are correct that Bassett doesn't need to reinforce what he does well. He needs to focus on some more leg attacks as his pace is a weapon but as Stanich showed, he's not super athletic and has trouble getting through head/hands
  19. 250 mile is a rule but there's a work around for wrestlers who attend private schools.
  20. I could see compliance telling them that recruits and potential recruits can't train with Iowa without knowing that all three brothers are RTC eligible.
  21. That Willie talked to an Iowa donor about this shows everything that's wrong with Iowa's program. And Willie can't bad mouth the donor or he loses access to the person that's really running the program. There's a reason Willie was so slow to answer as he had to think of how to not piss someone off.
  22. The final straw was allegedly when the person who put up Bassett's NIL money said some things online disparaging an Iowa wrestler going through some mental health issues. Issues can affect families behind closed doors.
  23. Some weights were really, really weak like 57 because the team had already been decided. It's like the PGA tour event of the people who didn't qualify for the British Open. 86 had multiple All Americans since the team spot wasn't already pre determined.
  24. There's nothing wrong with scheduling small time programs like Buffalo or Iowa. Those irrelevant programs need a boost.
