  1. 133 Hunt vs Cockrell P1- Deep shot by Hunt; Cockrell tried to defend but Hunt gets the 2. Big return by Hunt. More returns and good forward pressure from Hunt; Cockrell staying active on down but not able to get traction on anything. The announcer says Hunt is “trying to flip” Cockrell (?). P2- Cockrell choses neutral. Both guys exchanging fakes and shot attempts. Hunt lands a single to a big double for 2. Hunt smothering Cockrell to end the 2nd. P3- Hunt down. Announcers talking about riding time again. Good control by Cockrell, but not really working for anything. Hunt reverses for 2. Hint cuts Cockrell for 1, 6-1 Hunt. Cockrell trying to hold off the major and playing D. Cockrell lands a deep single and finally converts for the 2 with 2 secs left. Hunt wins 7-3
  2. 125 Treaster (?) vs Brown P1- Brown quick single for 2. Brown pushing hard for wrist control and applying good pressure, Treaster not able to do much. P2- From the comments of the announcers and the unmistakable voice, it appears that MDs infamous “Superfan”, Robin Ficker, is in the building. This is not necessarily a good ting for the Terps. Huge mat return for Brown; Treaster fighting off his belly while Brown stays behind- Brown hit with a stall warning. Brown over commits on a turn attempt and gives Treaster room for an escape. Brown lands another quick single for 2, then picks up 2 backs from a tilt. Brown riding like an anaconda, Treaster not able to do anything. Announcers back on the topic of riding time. P3- Brown scores a reversal 30 seconds into the period and immediately looking for a tilt. Treaster hit with a stall warning. Fairly sloppy tilt from Brown for 3 more backs. Brown gets even sloppier for another tilt attempt and almost gets reversed to his back as clock winds down. Brown wins 13-1
  3. I had hoped to keep up with this in real time, but tough to do while watching a toddler. Notes on the first 4 matches: Match starts at 174. 174 Star vs Solis P1- Lots of shots from Solis but can’t get much traction on anything. Star defending well but not taking any shots of his own, hit for a stall call at the end of the first. P2- Solis out quick. Same as 1st period, shots from Solis- none are particularly good, but he is pushing the action. Commentator is utterly clueless. He keeps talking about how important the 11 seconds of riding time will be “if the match doesn’t end in a pin”. P3- Star granbys out in less than a second, score tied at 1-1. More defense from Star and he finally gets banged for a stall point. Star turns it up over the last 30 seconds and comes close to a TD, but Solis managedto keep his leg hooked for no call as the clock runs out. Solis wins 2-1 184 Key vs Mielnik P1- Key lands the first TD about a minute in. Announcer still fascinated with riding time. Key dominating from top, Mielnik fighting to avoid a turn. P2- Riding time still a huge topic of discussion; announcer openly puzzled by the fact that Key differed choice of position. Key working for turns and gets a 1 count on a tilt; Mielnik fighting them off, but eventually draws a stall call. 2-0 Key at the end of the 2nd with riding time locked up (much to the delight of the announcer). P3- Key on bottom, Meilnick with a nice mat return and almost locks a cradle. Meilnick cuts him with 10 secs left, but unable to get any shots off. Key wins 3-0 197 Koser vs Smith P1- Lots of tie ups and both guys pushing for shots, ankle picks, and sweeps. Smith finally lands an ankle pick to duck under for the TD + 2 backs. Good top pressure and big mat return from Smith. Koser out for 1. Smith gets another 2 on a shuck by. 6-1 Smith. P2- Smith kicks out for a quick 1. Very nice shot by Koser, but unable to finish. Good low single by Smith for 2. P3- Smith riding well with heavy pressure, Koser unable to get much moving until a nice roll for 1. Smith looking for picks and shucks, but Koser defending to end it. Smith wins 10-2. 285 Griess vs Smith P1- Smith moving well for a big man; hardly surprising for a guy who started at 174 and is now in his 8th (!) season with the Terps. Single by Smith for 2. Smith looking for tilts but not getting very close. Griess staying off his belly but not doing much else. Smith getting a tad careless and lets Griess go for 1. P2- Griess starts down and immediately hooks a leg and leverages around for the reversal; he almost gets backs. Smith belly down and Griess pushing for bars (a “hammerlock”, according to the announcer) and turns. Griess aggressive and far out to the side and Smith reverses for possible backs (MD challenge). Announcers discussing riding time during the challenge. No backs on the challenge, Smith in control with 5 secs left in the 2nd; Griess out for 1 with 2 seconds left in the period. 4-4 P3- 30 secs in Smith gets the 1. Smith stuffed on a double attempt and Griess almost locks a cradle; Smith gets himself out of back danger but gives up the 2. Smith tried to roll out with 10 secs left but unable to escape. Griess wins 6-5
  4. Epstein did not kill himself
  5. We act surprised. Anyone else recall the Penn St - OK St dual 5 or 6 years ago? Flo hyped it for weeks, and attracted a record number of viewers... before the entire feed crashed after 133 and remained down for the duration of the meet. If memory serves correctly, they ended up using a backup feed that was essentially from some random dude's phone. They later issued a ham-fisted and insincere "apology", but refused to refund anyone. Yet for some reason I pay my annual subscription, year after year.
  6. Correct. I haven't watched that in 20+ years, but I remembered something about a wrestling scene. I tried to find a clip of it, but no luck.
  7. Anyone know if the full match is posted anywhere?
  8. He did in this movie. Still more convincing than Matthew Modine.
  9. I think this is a no-brainer https://www.theoutsidershouse.com/
  10. Great calls, Cement- thanks. Pitt looked very, very flat. Possible affect of the early season, or perhaps overlooking a non-conference team who has been terrible for a number of years. Both Phillippi and Matthews seemed disinterested in scoring bonus points, and Casto simply died after the 1st period. Tough break for Augustine- those two overturns were pretty iffy. Bonaccorsi was a man on a mission, however, and he easily handled Smith- who I really thought was going to win. Huge props to North for puling out a gutsy win; I've been waiting for him to turn a corner and have a breakout season. Loved those duck unders by Smith at heavy- rare to see a big man move that quick. Very, very nice for the Terps.
  11. Barczak was actually wrestling him really well until then.
