  1. This decommit bummed me out; Pitt keeping a stud WPIAL kid home is good for the sport. Hoping after he looks around he realizes Pitt is it after all . . . that is unless he decides to go out west to my team of choice obviously
  2. Agreed, especially w/ the bad blood between the MW and PacX in the conference offices; Air Force would be ruled out for the same reason. Arizona St, Okie St, Iowa St, and West Virginia are Big 12 bona fides. Mizzou and Oklahoma are affiliates but more like step brothers or half brothers; whichever you feel is more appropriate. No chance UNI leaves. Utah Valley and Cal Baptist make the most sense; if I had to speculate on someone else than I would say the Dakotas and Northern Colorado is the Wild Card that I have no idea.
  3. That's on me - I always get those two leagues mixed up; the point stays the same about the reflection on MAC wrestling. It's football decision to get football in the MW and finding a home for the rest of their sports
  4. Northern Illinios is leaving the MAC in all sports - headed to the Mountain West for football and the rest of their sports are finding a home in the Summit League so I don't think this is in anyway a concern about the future of the MAC wrestling
  5. Is there any update on them becoming official?
  6. No idea if it's true but I've heard affiliates in the Big 12 get no seat at the table per say; I also think the flip would stabilize the Pac 12 for wrestling and provide a potentially easier path to NCAAs for those schools (like how splitting off from the EIWA allowed more Ivy qualifiers this past year)
  7. Well 2 reasons mainly 1. The conference needs to add another school to have an AQ for NCAAs 2. Cal Baptist and Utah Valley just switched their primary conference affiliation to the same conference as Bakersfield and Cal Poly so that doesn't seem like a crazy leap to get them into the same wrestling conference
  8. Northern Illinois announced today they'll be a Pac affiliate starting 26-27 season. Pac needs at least 1 more to maintain AQ status for wrestling. I imagine they'll pry some of the Big12 affiliates away . . .
  9. I am fortunate enough to have been in the room for weigh ins for a Big Ten tourney and made a point to watch Deakin get on the scale - wanted to see for myself that he actually could make 157 because he certainly did not look it.
  10. True story - I wore a kilt to prom and everyone knows a true Scot doesn't wear anything under his kilt . . .
  11. *Respected a Scotsman cause of his Scottishness Fixed it for you
  12. I'm friends with someone who was a room guy at Nebraska; wrestled live w/ Burroughs, Green, etc. He's said multiple times the only times he ever felt truly lost on a mat; to the point that he felt like didn't even know how to wrestle was the first minute to 90 seconds against Downey when Downey was w/ Nebraska. . . then Downey would gas out and be useless but my buddy still marvels at the raw ability of Downey
  13. I hope not cause that means he was extremely successful in Greco but as a Beavs fan I sure as heck wish he was gonna be toeing the line in Corvallis this year
  14. That would classify as very limited success haha
  15. Didn't Dake when he was struggling to make a world team in freestyle make a run at Greco one year to little success?
