  1. Screw ND. They had a miserable wrestling tradition and weren't really ever committed to it. JJ McGrew (I know him!) chose ND over Oklahoma State and OU. He was a 3 time state champ in Oklahoma and wrestled a couple years for ND, qualifying for NCAAs both times and doing nothing at the tournament. ND ended their program in time for him to transfer to OSU for his Jr year. JJ finished AA both his final years, beating a bad guy in black for the NCAA title his Sr year I suppose ND bringing back wrestling would be good for it if ND actually showed commitment to it, which I think they would fail to do.
  2. I'll take your word for it. Man, I sure hope Taylor will be as good as everybody on here seems to think.
  3. If a few PSU guys decided to follow Taylor to OSU, then OSU could conceivably be in title contention by next season. Cael and PSU are obviously the standard, but things are suddenly on the table that weren't there before. If a couple of Cael's best guys moved to OSU who knows what could happen? Plus I hear there are studs at other schools thinking of transferring to OSU to wrestle for Taylor. This could be a gigantic swing, and if I was a PSU fan I'd be very concerned.
  4. PSU dwarfs OSU moneywise. PSU makes over $180 million a year, OSU makes about $122 million. I realize that depending on the depth of commitment to wrestling that OSU could conceivably spend more than PSU, but PSU could easily surpass OSU if that happened monetarily just by increasing their budget on wrestling.
  5. I guess those people never heard of a "barbecue". If I was Taylor I'd butcher all my animals (except horses, if he has horses) and have a helluva BBQ before I moved to Stoolwater. There's nothing quite like freshly bbq'd beef and chickens!
  6. I wouldn't put much stock on Cael's silence on the issue so far. I'm sure he's thrilled for Taylor. Cael has never been a blabbermouth, which is one of the reasons I like him. I'm sure Taylor probably talked to Cael immediately after getting offered. Yes, this is exciting. David has done well with youth clubs and has been a top assistant, it will be interesting seeing how he develops as a head coach. These things aren't guaranteed though, in my life I've been disappointed many times in supposed sure things.
  7. LOL....well I'll say this much: you dream big
  8. That would be a massive improvement for OSU. Last time they finished 2nd was, what, about 8 years ago?
  9. Go ahead, mock him, but Aaron doesn't have to worry about vampire attacks!!
  10. Any of you guys can link me Taylor's presser? You all sound fairly impressed with him. It'll be interesting seeing what happens to the Cowboys now. Things have got to improve.
  11. Oh yeah, Bo ain't going anywhere. But it would be fun if he did come to OSU.
  12. I don't think it's ego that big guys beat little guys in the practice room, I think it's common sense. Weight classes exist for a reason my friend and technique can only accomplish so much. If it wasn't for weight classes you'd never see anybody under 190-200 pounds winning titles at HS or beyond.
  13. I think Bo would be a huge asset. All the kids respect Bo and his MMA success is still very fresh.
  14. He'll have to get into shape.
  15. I thought of Coon and Parris when I read that
  16. Oh, what wolverines are you referring to?
  17. I actually deleted my post. What I stated was true, but I decided I didn't want to deal with the hassle from Gable-worshippers! You are probably right about ego not wanting us to believe those stories. That said Gabe wrestled 184 and Dake was 165 his last year. 19 pounds is significant, but that's a long road to hoe from Dan Gable weighing 150 pounds and supposedly tossing about 190 pounders or HWTs in practice. Now I could believe Gable maybe getting takedowns on bigger guys, but "ragdolling"? No way.
  18. Yup, he's got to go with new folks. Gotta get rid of the stagnation of the previous regime. The only one I want them to keep is Coleman Scott, and he's not going to hang around if he's not HC.
  19. Jesus. But I guess he needs the money, Prozac isn't cheap.
  20. True that Iowa isn't as rich a recruiting territory as Pennsylvania, but there is no guarantee Cael wouldn't have landed all those dudes anyway if he'd stayed at ISU.
  21. Brands is getting $700k a year?
  22. Cael is good for the sport. We need a colossus for everybody to pull against.
  23. True. Still it rankles me that OSU would induce Scott to give up a good job as HC at UNC with promises that he'll be the next guy after Smith retires, and then pull this. Classless. Plus there is the uncertainty of whether or not Taylor can actually be a head coach with everything that entails. He's certainly got the wrestling chops, but does he know how to schmooze the big benefactors? Will he have pipelines to local talent since he's an Ohio boy, and would he even need local talent pipelines since he's plugged in already in better wrestling states (Ohio and Pennsylvania)? Well whatever happens, it'll be interesting following the narrative.
  24. I have no doubt whatsoever that if Cael had stayed at ISU instead of moving to PSU that ISU would have won 11 out of the last 13 NCAA team titles. ISU sure screwed the pooch letting him get away.
