  1. Having two kids of my own in different colleges then, I can tell you that was pretty much standard operating procedure - not just Cornell.
  2. If Sasso had beaten Yianni, that would have been an 8 point swing - that's a lotta points for someone else to mkae up. H to H in the finals is a huge difference.
  3. I like the trend for Cornell - 7th place tournament finish last year, up to 3rd this year with two champs, two more AA's and a couple of R.O. 12s. Arguments that these are still Rob Koll's recruits aside, Mike Grey & Co. are showing they can still develop the talent. Great base for Grey to build recruiting on.
  4. Well, I never been to heaven But I been to Oklahoma Oh, they tell me I was born there But I really don't remember In Oklahoma, not Arizona What does it matter? What does it matter?
  5. I think there is a perception among some that Cornell exceeded expectations a bit - and on that level, it was a "win" for them. But no question, PSU fans have plenty to be happy about, and plenty to look forward to. So when are we going to see a Cornell vs. PSU dual meet?
  6. Oh c'mon. You're pulling my leg.
  7. It may be that the answer also depends upon which weight class is being discussed; I can see an argument that Cornell has recently done very well developing lightweights, maybe better than Penn State. But it's hard to argue with PSU's success at the upper weights.
  8. I wrestled my last season with a knee injury; I could walk just fine, but to try to change direction or push off - it would just buckle. Incredibly frustrating, because it otherwise felt fine, but could not do many of the things I would normally do.
  9. Parris was dominant, but in terms of excitement generated - Vito was remarkable. Very few except Cornell fans (and maybe one Lehigh fan I can think of) thought Vito would win it all, but I don't think any of us expected him to win in such dominant fashion. Truly extraordinary performance.
  10. On the whole, I'd say "Meets and exceeds expectations".
  11. OK, I confess - I voted for Grey.
  12. At this point - nothing is shocking.
  13. I think that debate has been settled!
  14. Where is that thread about RBY quickness too much for Vito?
  15. Mom & Dad bailed him out there - how can you not love that scene?
  16. I think it was Ed Peery at Navy who taught it like that - he was an Oklahoma guy.
  17. I learned it as "run the pipe" - after the oil riggers in Oklahoma who used to pass sections of pipe pulling between their legs.
  18. I think if we put it to a vote, most wrestling fans across the country would want to see a coaching change at PSU. That's the elephant in the room.
  19. Another golden oldie...
  20. Or maybe they demonstrate how futile the seeding process is? I'm in the camp that says there is no way to know the results with certainty until they wrestle. Embrace the upsets!
  21. I think Mike Grey & Co. are focussed right now on the goals at hand, not the hype. There will be plenty of time for the hype afterwards. We'll see if it pays off.
  22. One more day before the storm Do I follow where they go? At the (wrestling mats in Tulsa) Shall I join my brothers there? When our ranks begin to form Do I stay or do I dare? Will you take your place with me? The time is now The day is here One day more!
  23. ^^^ And if I had Medicine Man skills, I'd be photoshopping the faces of all the #1 seeds into the image above.
  24. It's almost here - the day we've been waiting for.
