Thoughts as a fan for college folkstyle wrestling: change riding time to be 2mins=1pt, fix stalling calls in a way to promote attacking wrestling much sooner (how is probably a whole different topic), wrestling on the edge will need shot/sprawls instead of circling by both to force a flee stall call. That crap starts, then stalemate & center. In fact forcing them out should be a stall on the one forcing out with no shot/attack depending on the situation. As for freestyle with limited involvement as fan or etc: RAISE THE TECH FALL BY DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OR MORE! THAT OR MAKE LACES WITH ROLLS WORTH LESS. Need something to make it more exciting for the viewer. Why do we not see as much success in Greco like a casual US observer would think? How do we change it? Last can we get a "Combined Style" that wrestles 3 periods of all 3 styles? Still wrestle all 3 regardless of getting a fall or tech fall in the 2 other periods.

Thanks for what felt like the lone bright spot for awhile as a Minnesota fan. Sucks it ended this way. Hopefully Max sticks around for more fun. Congrats to Wyatt on his victory. Just life as a Gophers wrestling fan it seems.

Not HS but for youth I have been assigned the "head coach ". We get this a little too often in my opinion but it depends on how many coaches we have available. If it's not required to have both corners & I'm the only one available, I do not do normal coaching. I just tell the guys no hip toss or headlock and no stupid screwing around rock, paper, & scissors theatrics. Just after each period I speak to both quickly to keep pushing each other. The best is having 3 of us. I go by scorer's table & say nothing at all. Other 2 do limited coaching to both from each corner. I take inventory of items to address at practice & get input from both coaches in corner to add to it.

My bad. I know his father and uncle were really instrumental in their program & seemed to be really close. Really a tough loss for the community. Regardless prayers for his family!

His uncle passed away in an accident at their home. Ike went to HS at our northern county rival. His uncle was another state qualifier for their prestigious wrestling program in NE Indiana and I believe helped coach at some level as well.

Prayers out to Ike Ruble and his family. A tragedy to say the least. Can't imagine his emotions getting his win on the 1st and then getting that call the next day.

I'm biased against almost everyone in the B1G besides Minnesota for wrestling. Michigan gets a neutral rating since I'm a Michigan football fan I guess. I despise Ohio State in all sports and despise/am jealous of Iowa, Penn St, and Oklahoma State. Respect John Smith & Cale but the Brands just annoy me. DeSanto was another annoyance as well.

Fix the rules & make it another spring sport or better yet a summer sport. The dead time from after the College Baseball season to football needs some more options. Mix it in with PLL, all racing forms, and MLB.

Yes, my alma mater has won I believe 3 of the 1A IHSWCA crowns including the first. Got steamrolled in the finals this year. I wish we had at least the 1A/2A before state instead of after.

I say on IndianaMat all the time that Indiana needs 2 individual tournaments. One classed around the time of Mishawaka, EMD, Connersville, & etc tournaments or weekend of current team dual invitational. Then keep the current single class individual tournament to end the year.

Would it help if USAW just made everyone split time evenly between Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman? Heck even create what I call "Combined Styles" that would be a match that wrestles 3 periods of each style. Just try and raise the bar of the 2 Olympic styles & folkstyle.

I think they'd have to get wrestling to be in the B1G to succeed like their hockey. Not very likely unless the B1G gets them for all sports. Honestly not just for wrestling but many sports like to see Maryland go back to the ACC in exchange for ND in the B1G.

I can see him leave IU if Notre Dame revived its program. His coaching at Portage and Crown Point & Chicago schools being close would make them a contender right away. Da Region rats would be claiming South Bend as part of their area, though I'm not sure they'd want Penn & Mishawaka in their group.
