  1. If Jon Jones can get Gable's MMA mind set as sharp as Brandvold got his wrestling mind set Gable will likely continue to succeed.
  2. I moved to MN and started following NCAA wrestling in the late 80's, 90's so I have an anti-Iowa bias and I never saw some of the earlier legends that are on so many lists. D. Ness, B Askren and B. Andonian were a trio of the most exciting NCAA wrestlers because yo never knew what was going to happen next. Ryan Lewis was the right guy at the right time for my sons and I to be fans. It was all over once he hooked up those arm bars! Kole Konrad. Watching him compete against and eventually develop a strategy to defeat Mocco was exciting. Heroes need foils and the Conrad/Mocco rivalry was great. The Brandvold-era Gable Steveson. There was never a question of his physical talent but Steveson peaked when he had Brandvold in his corner to keep his mind right. Dake - Mr. Bright Lights. He always rose to the occasion. The bigger the stage the better he wrestled. Dieringer, Yianni and Vito would round out my list. Hot take: David Taylor is a popular choice here and an incredible wrestler, but I found him boring to watch.
  3. There it is, the entire compendium of freestyle turns all demonstrated in a single match.
  4. Watching the officiating of matches in the earlier rounds of Greco was….interesting. In a lot of matches it seemed that every point led to a conference.
  5. Vito clearly out of sorts. Started the second match looking better so maybe it was a weight issue. Who knows? Anyhow it wasn’t prime Vito. Jax earned it though. That stuff at the end - acting like a high school kid Good on him! Congrats to the kid.
  6. A lot to be proud of there.
  7. Also find myself watching Hilger pick that ankle time and again and shaking my head and wondering wtf Gable was doing at the NCAAs
  8. Hilger gets massive respect for dusting off the round one beating and giving Hendrickson all he could handle.
  9. Wick needs a better towel guy.
  10. Haines and Messenbtinck have the same barber
  11. What’s the story with the teddy bear shoes?
  12. Dake appears to have lost a step. Zahid isn’t just bigger, he’s faster.
  13. Impressive the way Blaze was able to hold position against an obviously larger Cronin.
  14. Again with the Mom's glasses thing?
  15. Anyone else following the US Open at Pinehurst and doing a double take when they mention Frank Molinaro?
