The economics profession hasn't been able to talk about the depreciation of durable consumer goods since Sputnik. How many automobiles have American consumers trashed in the last 64 years?

There were 200,000,000 cars in the US in 1994. Buy a car and it gets added to GDP. The car wears out and it is not subtracted from anywhere.  The Laws of Physics do not give a damn about any ideologies. The population of the planet has gone from 3 billion to 8 billion with economists doing defective algebra all of the while.

What is NDP, Net Domestic Product?

NDP = GDP - Depreciation [Econ 101]

NDP = GDP - (Dcap + Dcon) [Reality]

Dcap == Depreciation of Capital Goods

Dcon == Depreciation of Durable Consumer Goods

Economists cannot tell the difference between a banana and an air conditioner. They are both just consumer goods to economists.
