Some excitement in the bronze medal bout between GR - 60 kg    Final 3-5    649    (TUR) Omer ALTAS (23)    (GEO) Vakhtang LOLUA (19)

Altas , behind all throughout the match, was constantly putting his edge of his hand across Lolua's throat.

Cautioned twice before... and behind 7-0, he did it a THIRD time.🙄

Both combatants went at it while the women ref blocked and push each away... the coaches entered in the fray as well.

W/ a min. + left in the bout, Lolua won the bronze(9-0 w/ 3 cautions on Altas AND the loss)... the ref forced Altas to make nice w/ Lolua.

One "I Love You, Man!" hug later and that was it. 😏

USA challenge is moot... making the final score 9-3.

IF Robinson is out for her 3-5 bout... then the USA U 20 women only gets 2 medals in this tournament.

I'm sure this question is dumb, but didn't Cooper's 4 points put her up 10-0 before Kostsenich scored?

Not a dumb question... as that it may have been a 2 Cooper 2 Kostsenich 2 Cooper sequence instead.

It happened quickly and I tic-a-tapped as a 4 by mistake. I do not know if UWW site shows a score sheet.

I was wondering about that later on.

It makes more sense that it was 2-2-2. If it were 4, then I think Kostsenich would have only been able to score 1 on a reversal. I'm an old folk style guy, so I can't say I understand the scoring.

Thanks.

Even if it was 10-0, the complete scoring sequence has to be finished before the match is stopped.

Like those late-nite Infomercials would say as they tell you the price of their products: But WAIT! there's MORE...

I just finished reading the InterMat article on the home page:

This section gives an explanation of the sequence that happened; Cooper DID score that 4 point exposure, but...

Cooper and Belarus’ Kseniya Kostsenich squared off for a bronze medal at 53 kg. The American got the scoring started with an arm spin for four points. After the next restart, Cooper went back to the arm spin and earned a takedown and a commanding 6-0 lead.

Cooper nearly ended the bout at the end of the first period as she countered a Kostsenich attack with a throw for four points. The Belarusian wrestler was awarded two points in the sequence, which made the score 10-2 at the break.

Kostsenich started a second-period rally with a double leg where she finished high and got behind Cooper. She would toss Cooper for four points, which got her back in the match at 10-6. Kostsenich continued to apply pressure and ended up with a stunning 11-10 victory.

I'm not making this up. I, too, would of thought that Cooper received the 4 FIRST would've ended the bout. The fact that the 2 out of 3 officials scored Kostsenich a 2pt exposure in the same sequence , apparently put the kibosh on that potential match ending TF.

The rest, is now history.

😏On the humorous sides of things...

Flashing back to when most foreign wrestlers react upon learning that their 1st opponent in the FS brackets of the upcoming U20 tournament... will be an AMERICAN:
