Penalized for other than HS tournaments?

Decades ago. Wrestled in HS and right after in an AAU tournament.

Later I was disqualified from ALL HS sports - because of the AAU wresltling tournament.

This type of thing must have changed now, right?

Otherwise how would we have out HS World Team members and such still being on their High School teams?

I was doing well with Boxing in HS as well. Golden Gloves & other fights with the Club team I was on. The High School never said a word about it even as I would miss classes at times for tournaments in far flung locations.

Any blowback for High School wrestlers now with taking part in other tournaments or sports?

This happened to a few kids my kids wrestled with for attending AAU 'meets' because of a travel rule that they were HARD on.  It was devastating as two were seniors who had placed high the year before, and it likely cost one of them a D1 scholarship to Central Michigan, as they had shown high interest.
