Stop spending? That's not policy that's a vague and meaningless talking point.

Social Security(which means...you probably also stop taxing), Medicare and the Military?

Here's the reality though...and it's not complicated.

The larger your tax base is, the easier it is to get out of debt.

When your GDP GROWS...even without raising taxes, you've got MORE money coming in to service the debt.
When your GDP CONTRACTS, the debt will grow.

Margin taxes rates above 1M dollars increasing will help. They were over 90% in the 50s under Eisenhower when we were paying off debt accumulated from WWII and the Great Depression.

We could slash defense spending?

We have an outline of how to get out of this debt whilst still prospering. That's not going to happen again(the extremely high tax rates).

We also have an outline of how to make things exponentially worse(that IS happening).

So trumps proposed taxes on the rich are higher THAN OBAMAS ?   Got it

Scourge, As I’ve stated and you’ve ignored many times.  Trump has the things he believes a country needs to be self sufficient.  He will get there.  Blanket tariffs will become targeted tariffs.  It’s called leverage.  Playing from a position of power to make it happen is a wonderful starting point.

You realize being the largest economy in the world IS ALL the power you need, right?

Just making up tariff rates that you're being charged based on trade deficits is...absurd.

But I'm glad you know "it's called leverage."

To be clear though, you think Trump is lying when he says he's not going to negotiate, these ARE the new tariffs and they're not changing? You don't believe that?

Also, is there a reason you can't put this all in one post? It's not like these are especially poignant arguments. They're literally just ripping off the MAGA talking points from Twitter.

Not to mention defense spending is why we already haven’t experienced WW3

He's proposted just rolling them back. The tax cuts that added a couple trillion to the deficit.

I doubt he'd go above Obama(again...just do one post).

Face it. We are the world leader.  The rest of the world needs to own up and fund their own defense.  Then we can cut our defense spending.

Ok. I'm just explaining to you what the "stop spending" in order to eliminate the debt would entail.

So...are we eliminating the debt? Shrinking the GDP?

Do you think wiping out 5T in wealth is a good start?

Eliminating fraud is eliminating debt.

No, he has not Jimmy.

I posted the same link(I know you don't bother reading them, but it outlined RUMORS about what he was considering).

One was 40-41% on 1M and above and the other was just rolling it back to Obama level eras.

Can I ask what your point is?

Trump hasn't said a word about this. This is all rumors. Am I to believe you believe all rumors from about the Trump administration?

Show me where Trump has said ANYTHING other than cutting tax rates before you tell me "he's proposed" anything.

Are here not discussions going on about Trump raising taxes on those making more than a million?  Isn’t that what you want?

You're the guy who listens to the "DOGE" team and really thinks they're cutting billions a day in debt.

But...sure, cut out the fraud.

Do you have a concept of how large our debt is? That even if you were to assume ALL non Social Security, Medicare, Military spending is debt, how long would it take-with NO other Govt spending- to eliminate the deficit and then the debt?

Also, what is the target debt YOU believe the US should aim for?

You just started a thread to re-post something I'd already posted in a direct reply to you.

Where did I say eliminate the debt. Right now it’s about controlling it.

It's kinda funny how people forget how Trump became an afterthought in the 90s. After he bankrupted casinos and he was toxic to touch.

Fortunately he found Russian..."friends".....to help Donald through his fiscal hard times.

Yup, thanks to the Republican Party. Massive giveaways to the 1% aren't what's called "fiscally responsible".

"Are here not discussions?"

I don't know what that means.

As for Trump raising the marginal tax rate after 1M? Yeah, I supposed that's something I want. It's WELL down on my list of things I'd like to see the Federal Government do as it pertains to the economy... NOT starting trade Wars is the FIRST thing.

But as I said, you claimed Trump "proposed" a higher tax rate than Obama did. I'm pointing out to you...he has not. He has actually said the EXACT opposite. Do you understand "reports" and then what Trump has ACTUALLY said?

Literally 12 minutes ago. But I see you failed to answer the question. What is the ideal debt for the United States. You couldn't answer.

Ok, so your question is "aren't there discussions...?"

I don't know. This is totally speculative and contrary to everything Trump has said about taxes.

What Trump has ACTUALLY advocated was cutting taxes that would equate to at least 9T added to the debt over the next 10 years.

15 minutes ago, JimmySpeaks said:

And how much did Trump's tax cuts on the wealthy add?

Yes. This is why I said "when I bother to look at your posts."

The conversation generally goes like this...which is you just posting 5-6 times in a row and...not a single original thought.
