The 2013 IFBB World Classic Bodybuilding Overall Champion, Masoud Zatparvar, was killed by the Islamic Republic during the Jan 8th protests.

His final Instagram post:

"We only want our rights. A voice that has been silenced for forty years must be shouted now. You are the reason for the way we live today. You took our youth, our hope, our dreams, even the bare minimum from us. Today, it’s me. I’m here so that tomorrow I won’t look at myself in the mirror and think I had no courage, no honor. I stood up, and whatever the cost may be, I will pay it. I, Masoud Zatparvar, am out on the streets today. I have no fear, no worries. I want my rights."

God bless all of our Iranian friends.

absolutely - it’s important never to use a broad brush to paint a whole group for the actions of a few. I’ve always admired the tenacity of Iranian wrestlers. I’ve read it’s their nations #1 sport winning something like 50+ Olympic medals YTD.

Russia is doing pretty well at the greco Malo ranking series. I don't see any stars, but some solid wrestlers. Iran is not crushing everyone like worlds, but this isn't their A team.

Akzhol is wrestling up a weight. Demeu who beat him at the Olympics is there too, along with Nemes. Viktor Nemes is only 32? I thought he was in his 40s. He's been around forever it feels like.

Yeah they have impressed at 77 and 87kg. I reckon they will win 97kg as well since they brought Sargsian. Even with Iran's A team I think we wouldn't have won gold at 77kg and 87kg would have been tough given how competitive the field was. Do you think Akzhol is moving permanently to 82kg? It will be interesting to see him wrestle Farokhi.

It’s because of people like you that I enjoy posting on this board.

I mourn the loss of the 10s of thousands of protestors killed by regime the innocent kids killed by the Israeli strike.

Unfortunately, I do not see a path to regime change.  I hope, I am wrong.

A free Iran would be amazing very positive outcome for Iran and the world.  The people of Iran are highly educated, and can contribute greatly to the world.

Threats or non-wrestling related garbage will get you a one month vacation.

Thank you

Thank you @BobDole, I posted several days/weeks ago about removing non-wrestling related posts.

I'm very happy that you have reprimanded these people since they are not interested in wrestling. If it is not controlled it will spiral out of control like it did on themat.

May Saleh have and find peace. Thoughts for his teammates, friends, and family.spacer.png

Just heard about this, what American(s) did he wrestle last summer? I don’t follow international stuff too closely, but I remember him. Terrible

Asian championships ongoing. Mirzazadeh wrecked everyone. It's not like the competition is that much better in the rest of the world. I think only another Iranian can stop him from winning gold.

Riza is back tbf but not the Riza of old

Mirzazadeh is just on another level right now, Hedayati dealing with an injury.

Riza didn't have the endurance to stay with the top Iranians two years. Unless the Turkish federation gave him some special vitamins, it must have only gotten worse.

I think Riza is going to break the European Championship record. Europe can't produce elite greco wrestlers anymore across the weights. Stuck with undersized plodders like Vitek.

Twitter / X has been engaging in heavy censorship against Iranians, banning the account of the head of the Iranian Wrestling Federation, and Olympic and World champion, Alireza Dabir

does not bode well for the LA Olympics.
