Yes, you are correct about Deism.  

Huge generalizations, but most of the original Virginians came over for economic reasons; the New Englanders came over for religious reasons.  The Separatists generally wanted out of the Church of England; the Puritans did not initially want out, but thought that the Stuart Kings brand of the Anglican religion was too close to Catholicism and they wanted a Church of England that was more Calvinist.

His direct comparison when he said that was to MAGA, nothing to do with race or religion.  MAGA has lost their minds.

I could see how that statement could be considered racist if it was in direct comparison to blacks/Muslims.  But it was not, it was in direct comparison to MAGA.  So I guess it was MAGA-ist?
